"So not a Hero" by S.J Delo is a fictional book filled with adventure, not only because of the heroes and villains, but simply because it's not simply black and white, with just good and evil like the usual super powered fictions, it brings light to real life problems- in a super way.

When former villain Crushette (Now simply Karen Hashimoto) is released from the Max (a prison made for supers), she tries to put her life back together, away from her Ex and the most powerful villain, doctor maniac. Though as a former criminal and supervillain, that's a hard thing to do when everyone and everything seems to be against you. Then she's suddenly given a chance to turn things around, by an unexpected offer made by Mister Manpower; to join as a member of the cities super team- to become a hero. The question is- will she make the best of it?

Mister Manpower is a former counselor before his powers activated, probably why he saw the potential in Karen. Phantasm (Aka Lexi), a teenage girl with the power to phase through any objects, is the most bubbly and most accepting towards Karen as a team mate. Rocket (Aka Robert) isn't so accepting, with the power to produce flames at his feet and fly, he's just waiting for Karen to get burned. Omega girl (Aka Darla) wasn't as accepting at first, their relation a little rocky but she gets over it, with the power to absorb energy from the sun and use it. Power brain (Aka Daniel) with an IQ 410, gifted with inventive aptitude, might have been a little too friendly considering he developed a crush on her. Finally captain awesome (Aka Richard), one of the most egoistic man on the planet, and a billionaire, Karen simply can't be too angry at him to act on her violations compulsions- simply because his powers make him Charming and likable. Let's not forget her Ex, doctor maniac, who may or may not be trying to kill her, gifted with inventive aptitude like Power brain, only with advanced biology.

I would recommend this book for those who wish to escape into the world of super powered fiction, all while learning more about the real world, through Karen's hardships. The book is obviously in her point of view, no worries, you can never get bored in Karen's mind and her views on life. The author kept me at the edge of my seat, keeping the mystery alive, who is the mysterious villain, hiring other villains to do his dirty deeds? Everything leading up to the big event, and not everyone is as they seem- they do say to watch out for the quiet ones. Filled with action packed events, and the emotional conflicts, this book won't disappoint. Five stars, and you may agree, whether you can relate, or know someone you can, so much easier to relate, unlike the batman and superman books. You're in for an emotional, action packed roller coaster.
