My eyes land on the cold chain and I smile at the comfort it brings me. It means I can't escape. It means I can't hurt others.
"Aero, please you need to get out of your head. Dean wouldn't want to see you this way."
My eyes move to...Desi as her words sink in a little. Tears threaten to take over as memories of Dean go to invade my thoughts, but once I press my back on the cold wall near me I relax again.
"She's gone Desi; let her do what she wants." Matty...I think.
"We all promised to watch over her if he died."
"She isn't the only one affected by his death, Desi. We are all affected. He would have lived if she had just died."
My mind wanders away from the conversation as I focus on the chains. Everyone is now chained to the floor in order to keep us restrained. They do come here to beat us, but they always leave me alone. Instead they decide to call me the monster I am and I'm glad to be hidden from the world.
I avoid ever seeing that little gap of light brought every time the door is opened. I'd rather keep myself in the dark where no one can see me.
I hear the creak of the door and instantly close my eyes and curl myself into a ball. I prepare myself for the same on slaughter of truths that I receive from our guardians. As I turn away from the light and embrace the cold darkness.

Short StoryPrequel to Dreaming of Skies (can read either story first) I'm not sure what's going on. One minute I'm playing outside and the next I'm waking up in a cold room. Someone else is here with me, so I don't have to be alone. However, the people upstair...
