Morning routines

"Daddy!" Yelled a happy little voice as the bed sank down next to me and two small arms followed by a small body wrapped around me.

"Morning sweetheart" I smiled, rubbing Eve's back gently.

Evelyn learned how to climb out of her cot and would be in Micheal and my room every morning. This was becoming routine and I honestly loved it however we needed to sort it and put some rules in place.

I felt the weight lift from me and onto Micheal who had his hand and legs intertwined with mine under the covers as usual. The process was repeated with greetings exchanged before she got up and headed out to the living room. We knew to follow her out or all hell would break loose so Micheal and I pulled ourselves from the bed and shared our morning minute of peace, quiet. A kiss.

Once I rejoined my daughter by all her toys, Micheal left to the kitchen to cook the usual Sunday breakfast of pancakes. He had done this since Eve was old enough to eat them. It was amazing how things just worked out and became one brilliant routine.

I put on some kids tv and sat with her for a few minutes. We played with her dolls but she didn't pay much attention to what she was doing because she was watching the daily programs so I did my usual trick of silently joining my husband in the kitchen.

With our child requiring so much attention, the two of us didn't get too much time alone but we did make the most of what we could. Usually our time in the mornings consisted of discussing plans for the day, week or events coming up soon.

"Morning baby" he chimed as I hugged him from behind.

"Morning!" I kissed his cheek

"You got any ideas as to how we're going to do this tour with kiddo in there?" I gestured to the living room.

Kirsty had asked us to think about if we wanted another bus or just hotels. She even asked if we wanted to get someone to look after Eve back at home.

"Um... do you reckon it's worth getting someone to come with us but look after her while we're on stage and busy and things. We'll have weird sleeping patterns too so she will need someone there in the morning to keep her company." Micheal suggested.

"I agree. That would be a good idea. Can I just check that we're ruling out leaving her here completely?"

"Yes. There's no way she's not coming with us."

"Ok good. Do you think tour bus or hotels?"

"I don't know. What do you think?" It was clear that he had an opinion but he wanted to know what I was going to say before he said it.

"I reckon bus. It's so much easier." I told him.

"I think so too. You wanna let Kirsty know?" He smiled

"Yeah. We'll talk to Eve about it when we have breakfast." I spoke as I exited to the living room where Eve was happily playing in her own little world.

I quickly ran to the bedroom to make the call to Kirsty before bounding back. I picked up my baby and cheered "who's ready for pancakes?"

"ME!" She yelled, overjoyed at the realisation that it was pancake day in the Penniman household with not just any pancakes but made by the one and only Micheal penniman, her dad!

I put her in her high chair before sitting at my seat and being joined by Micheal and a stack of fresh pancakes to share.

"Thank!" Evelyn smiled. It was adorable.

"You're welcome baby girl!" He chuckled. She was only just learning her 'please and thank you's so it was brilliant how she had said that without any prompts.

"Good girl Eve" I praised, proud of her once again.
