Kai stared at the giant ring on her finger. She was unbelievably happy and she never wanted this feeling to go away. She was now engaged to the love of her life, the man of her dreams, her everything. She just wished she could share this with her family. She hadn't seen any of her immediate family since Jai's baby shower. She wanted to storm over there and brag in their faces that she finally made it and was engaged. They probably wouldn't even care though. They'd probably still treat her like she was some low-life. Jai would be the only that genuinely cared, and that would be enough for Kai.
Kai had even been debating on whether or not she should go over to her parents' house this Sunday, since it was family night, and personally tell them they're not invited to her wedding. Jordan and Kai decided to have their wedding next month because they didn't want to wait any longer. Neither of them wanted an extraordinary wedding either. Just a simple ceremony with some close relatives, mostly from Jordan's side.
When Sunday came, Kai had her answer. She and Jordan both dressed appropriately for dinner and made their way to her parents' house. This would be the first family dinner Kai attended since she moved out and became a prostitute. Kai was a nervous wreck, but Jordan was helping by boosting her ego. "Who cares about what you did a couple months ago baby, look at you now! You're a model, you have your own money, and you're happily engaged to be married next month. If that doesn't make them see past what you've done, then they can have the first invitation to not being invited." Jordan kissed her hand, then got out and helped her out of the car.
Kai gripped his hand tight as he rang the doorbell. Jordan leaned down and began placing kisses on her neck to relax her. It was working. When they heard the lock being turned, Jordan pulled away from her neck and Kai inched closer to him. The door opened and Sanai stood there with a blank stare. "Hi," Kai greeted shyly. Sanai rolled her eyes and walked away from the door. Even though Sanai despised Kai, she would never turn her sister away.
Jordan and Kai entered the house and went straight to the dining room. Her family's happy conversation stopped when they looked up and saw Kai. Then they noticed Jordan. They were holding hands. All of their mouths dropped, but Kai's mother had a smirk on her face. She knew this day would come.
Kai's mother never hated Kai, it was impossible for her to hate any of her children. She was just disappointed in Kai's choice of work. She was more disappointed in herself because she did the best she could to raise her children right, so when Kai said she was a prostitute, it broke her mother's heart.
Kai didn't plan to stay long, she just wanted to share a few choice words with them, and then be on her way. "I would just like to inform you all that Jordan and I are engaged and we will be getting married next month. I am no longer a prostitute, I haven't been for a while, but you guys wouldn't know because you don't bother to check up on me. Lastly, I would like to personally tell you guys that you are not invited to my wedding. Well Jai, you and your family may come if you'd like, but as for the rest of you; no. You guys were nowhere to be found when I was at my lowest, and I don't want you there when I'm at my highest. That is all," Kai stated then left with Jordan.
Jordan was proud of his fiancée, and a couple weeks later, he was proud to call her his wife.
