Chapter 8

I haven't got out my room in two days. Today is the real day we leave to California. I'm not in the mood to go anymore. I feel numb and I don't know what to feel or how I feel. I haven't seen him, or anyone. All I wanna do is see him, but I can't. He'll hurt me all over again. The good news going about, is that Tiffany isn't going from what I heard. I hear a soft knock interrupting my thoughts.

"Yes?" I question, grabbing my phone.

"Hey, um, sis we're leaving now." Michael whispers softly, sadly. My heart breaks at that. My brother's upset and I'm determine to fix it.

"Come in." I shout. He opens the door slowly.

"You okay?" He questions.

"Yeah, but are you?" I ask and respond.

"No." He answers bluntly.

"Awe, why?" I frown.

"Because I haven't seen my sister and I miss her." He glares. I wrap my arms around his waist, squeezing him. "That's the sister I miss. Not the one who locked herself in her room." He adds. I laugh and shake my head, I can feel he's smiling to. We let go of each other and race each other down the stairs. They turn to look at us. More like me.

"Oh good. Girly came out of hibernation." Luke jokes.

"Yeah I wish it was longer." I sigh dramatically. He laughs.

"So do I, but I missed the crazy, not normal, alien girl." Luke teases.

"You guys make it sound like I was gone for so long." I state, shaking my head.

"You guys, uh, we...oh." Calum stops and stares at me. I look down at my feet nervously. I can't look at him.

"What do you need?" Ashton sings.

"Uh, we need to get to the airport soon." He finishes. I feel his eyes still on me.

"Yeah okay let's go." I mumble moving past Calum. My luggage is already in the car anyway.

"Okay, Calum and Maddie back, Ashton and Michael in the front and I get a whole seat to myself." Luke explains.

"I object." Michael states.

"Same." I agree.

"Well I'm sorry but no one cares about the twins statements or reasons. We're doing it my way whether you like it or not." Luke says sternly. I roll my eyes but do what he says anyway. I go to the back and Calum does the same. I keep space between us so we're not that close.

"Okay I'm putting on music." Ashton announces.

"Life's a tangle web. Self phone calls and hashtags I don't know,and you are so caught up, in all the blinking lights." Ashton sings to Disconnected. I laugh at his purposely terrible singing. I feel four pair of eyes and I look around. The one and only Calum Hood and Luke Hemmings are staring at me.

"Hey why didn't you bring Brooklyn?" Luke questions, playfully glaring at me.

"It slipped my mind." I shrug. I hear someone clear there throat beside me. I don't look, I already know who it is.

"Try harder." I hear Luke whisper.

"I can't she won't listen." Calum sighs sadly.

"Calum, just fix it." Luke whisper-shouts.

"How?" He sounds so upset. I glance his way to see that his eyes aren't sparkling like they did. It's either the lighting or it's because he's upset. I'm not sure.

"I tried to think of ways. But I don't find one." Luke sighs.

"Thanks anyway I'll figure something out." Luke pats Calum's shoulder. Luke turns away and starts talking to Michael and Ashton. I take out my phone and start playing tic-tac-toe. It's so boring playing against a damn computer person. I do the only thing I can think of.

"Hey um do you wanna play tic-tac-toe?" I question with a small smile.

"Uh sure." Calum mumbles. We play a few rounds of tic-tac-toe until I get tired of losing and give up.

"You're a cheater." I whine.

"How?" Calum laughs. Oh how I missed hearing it.

"You have your ways. I don't." I pout. He shakes his head and looks at the smiling Cheshire Cat Luke. Calum gives him a questioning look, but Luke just shakes his head with a big grin.

"California here we come!" Ashton shouts excited.

                                                                 ~~~~~~~~~~~~
I put my luggage on the thingy that you put your stuff in on top of the seats. I fix my luggage my hand brushing Calum's. Even at the small contact I gasp feeling the electricity sparks through my hand. I shake my hand to get rid of the tingling feeling.
I sit at the seat my ticket says and see that my side partner is not there. I take a seat by the window and grab my book out of my bag. I'm in love with the book. It's wait for it. Harry Potter. It's the third book I'm rereading them all over.
"What a coincidence." A voice mumbles. I look up to see Calum looking at me and the rest of the people behind me and in front of me.
"Hi Maddie." Ashton giggles, getting up from his seat.
"Hi Ashton." I smile.
"Stop flirting." Calum groans, irritated.
"I know Calum, you don't have to tell me." Ashton puts a hand to his heart.
"What are you talking about?" Calum questions confused.
"We all know you can't resist my sexiness." Ashton grins. Me and Michael burst out laughing.
"Hey Ash where's the sexy part?" Michael jokes.
"Fuck-tard." Ashton smacks him. I laugh it reminding me if Brooklyn.
"Hey that's Brooklyn's favorite cuss word." I state the same time Luke does.
