almost 7 months later ;;

"hey, mukuro!"

mukuro smiled at her friends through the glass. she put the phone to her lips and muttered, "i haven't seen you two so happy looking in ages."

komaeda and hinata giddily hid their hands under the desk. hinata was smiling in a flustered manner, and komaeda was beaming.

"let me guess, you two are engaged or something?" mukuro joked. komaeda's blush deepened as he shook his head no. "i mean, we did get each other promise rings, buuut... thats not the point!"

mukuro cocked an eyebrow.

"we're getting you out of here! i've been working extra and i got enough money to get you out of here, and possibly for good! i also won the lottery, but thats not a big deal," komaeda said excitedly.

hinata nodded. "its like a thank you for trying to warn us. i'm really glad no one got hurt," hinata said warmly.

a pang of guilt flashed on mukuro's face.

"oh, right. sorry."

she shook her head no. "its fine, guys. she deserved it."

"we also already got you an apartment and a cat!" komaeda cut in, sharply inhaling as he brought his hands over the table.

there was a picture of a small kitten, its fur dark and its left eye gone. "they said she was a brave kitten, she saved herself at a young age," hinata chuckled shyly, "kinda reminded us of you."

mukuro felt tears form in the corner of her eyes. she set the phone down and put her hands over her mouth, smiling widely.
