A/N: Back to Olivia; third POV. It's been longer than last time.
Olivia woke up early the next morning. Without even thinking, she got up and opened the window. It was still dark but she stood there for a minute and looked at her surroundings. She lived on the back street, probably an 8 minute walk from the main part of New York. It turns out, once you back up a little bit, its actually peaceful in the city.
The air was warm and inviting. The winds had a soft chill breeze, like splashes of water on skin when it's July in California. There were a few people who jogged past. In that moment, Olivia wasn't even thinking of home. She could stay at the window forever. Just as she closed her eyes to become one with the scene, Janice burst in, yelling.
"OLIVIA WAKE UP IT'S YOUR FIRST DAY OF YOUR JUNIOR YEAR I MADE YOU PANCAKES AND STRAWBERRIES AND MUFFINS."
Olivia opened her eyes frantically, while at the same time bringing her head up to turn around, which caused her to bump her head on the top of the window sill.
"Mom." Olivia said, rubbing her head, annoyed. "Can you not?"
Janice covered her mouth and chuckled. "Sorry, I didn't know you'd be up. Are you ready for today?"
Olivia pretended to not be as annoyed as she really was, as she answered. "Sure, I guess."
"Great, super excited for you hunny. Hurry up though," Janice grinned sheepishly." I really don't know where I'm going so when should probably get an early start." The door closed and she walked out. Olivia squinted her eyes at the direction of the door and shook her head. She really wished she didn't get so annoyed with her mother, but she also wished she hadn't made her this way.
The clock said 6:45 am. First day at a new school, better get a move on it.
---
After almost 3 hours of walking around New York City with her mother, Janice and Olivia finally arrived at their destination. T.C. High School was in big royal blue letters across the front of the school. Olivia looked up in awe. She looked slightly closer at the words in a copper glaze which read something about "performing arts". Her attention was drawn from the sentence to her mother.
"Olivia. Olivia. You've arrived on planet earth again." Janice said, jokingly. I've got to get to work soon. Do think you can handle this by yourself?"
Olivia scrunched up her face again. "Yea, I guess." she answered nonchalant.
"Olivia." Janice moved in front of Olivia's eyes, which were slightly turned away, but now focused on her. "Can you look at me? It's been a little rough for a few months but can you at least try to like it? I'm sorry I can't walk you in. You know how I'd love to. I'm sorry I'm unorganized too. Please forgive me. I love you, but I really have to go. I bet you probably don't want your lame mom in there with you, anyway."
' A lie. Never changed schools before.'
"You probably don't want to start off your first day late, so tell them it's my fault."
'Mhm.'
"At least you can make it a good rest of the day. New York; wow! You can never be sure who's in your class."
'OK mom.'
"Besides did you ever find out about that Shawn boy? What a coincidence it would be for him to go here."
'oh. RIGHT.'
Olivia widened her eyes. "Mom. Thank you. I love you so much. Thanks for walking me, I know my way back. I'll see you at home, bye!"
