Chapter Five

"Thorne?" Cress said when she stepped into the room. "Carswell?"

It was empty.

"Thorne are you-" Cress started but the door closing behind her stopped the words from coming out.

Thorne grabbed Cress's wrist and spun her towards him and smiled. "Feeling better?" He asked, but Cress wasn't sure he wanted an answer.

They were so close. Her body was pressed up against his and she could feel that his heartbeat was beating just as fast as hers. Even after all the time they have been together, Cress still got butterflies whenever he was near. She nodded breathlessly.

Thorne grinned larger and he slid a hand to the back of her neck. Cress's body automatically went with it. With him. He pulled her close and...

Every time he kissed her, Cress felt alive. She felt sick with desire and intense with love. She snaked her arms around Thorne's neck and his hand on her back pressed them closer together. Thorne picked her up and she wrapped her legs around his waist. He slowly moved his way toward the bed. When Thorne laid her gently on the mattress she snapped out of it.

"Thorne." She said, trying to get his attention, but he was too busy kissing her neck. "Carswell, I have something to tell you."

That stopped him. He inhaled her scent before looking in her eyes. "I'm first" He said.

Cress sat up and bit her lip. "Okay?"

Thorne squeezed his eyes shut for a moment. "I haven't been the best husband to you, Crescent." The use of her full name made Cress know that something serious was on his heart. "It's just, when I'm on Luna you're constantly on my mind. But if I talk to you all the time, if I see you over a screen everyday... I would leave. I would come home to you and never leave your side. But I'm .... I'm hopelessly devoted to you, Cress. And I want you to come back to Luna with me." Thorne knew he wasn't the best with words so he looked down at Cress, waiting for his reply.

"I can't." Cress said, tears filling her eyes.

Thorne was taken aback. "But...Crescent. Why?" He ran so many scenarios through his head. Terror filled his mind and he was still as a statue. Was she in love with someone else? Am I gone to much for her to love me? The thought made him so hot with jealousy, he almost broke into a million pieces.

"I-Thorne. Spades, this is hard. I love you Carswell." She said, running a hand through his hair. " I love every part of you. The good and the bad, the right and the wrong, and the cocky. This is new territory for both of us. So I need you to be honest with me, okay baby? And I need you to not freak out."

Thorne nodded. "I'm always honest with you. But Cress, I don't understand. What new territory are we crossing over too?"

"I've been really emotional lately and I thought that it was just because you've been gone so much. I thought that being without you was making me physically sick but.."

Cress leaned over and kissed him, long and hard. She moved her lips to his ear and he held fast onto her hips.

"I'm pregnant." She whispered.

Thorne was silent and Cress felt her heart beat at least twenty times. Then his grip got tighter and he turned her around so that she was laying on the bed and he was on top of her. He looked right into her eyes and felt Cress shiver.

"Your telling me that I've been worrying that you fell out of love with me," he kissed her nose. "that all this drama, which usually I enjoy unless it involves you," he kissed her forehead. "is because you are going to have our baby? Aces, Cress! Why didn't you just tell me! We're having a baby!" Thorne was smiling wider than she had ever seen before.

Cress giggled, smiling wide. her eyes filled with love. "Wait, you mean, you're not upset?"

Thorne furrowed his eyebrows. "Upset? I wanted this to happen." He said matter-of-factually.

"You-you did?" Cress stuttered.

Thorne smirked. "Why else would I throw away your birth control pills?"

"Because they made my period so irregular! " Cress exclaimed.

Thorne made a face. "Well, that too. But Cress, a baby. I'm amazed at how happy you can make me. I love you."

Cress started crying. "I love you too."

"We need to figure out what to do next. " Thorne said.

"Scarlet and I already did." Cress smiled.

"Of course you did. " Thorne chuckled.

"I'll stay with Scarlet for a couple more months. By then, I won't be sick anymore. I'll also be about 6 months pregnant. Oh! I'm going to get fat!" Cress suddenly said.

Thorne laughed. "Cress, you'll be fine. "

Cress glared at him.

"Oookay. 3 months. Then what?" Thorne asked, ready to change the subject.

"Then I'll either go to Luna to be with you or go home with you. I'll be wherever you are." She smiled.

Thorne kissed her forehead. "That sounds perfect to me."
