His Decision

I can't help but stare. He's way cuter than I imagined. I thought he'd be a twelve year old boy, but from the looks of it, he looks to be about my age. He looks up from the ground and makes eye contact with me. He takes the pipe away from his lips and gives a slightly intimidating smirk. He walks out of the circle and towards me and the tall boy.

"Hello Felix, I see our guest has arrived" he greets while having his full attention on me.

"Yup, just in time too" the 'Felix' kid responds.

"In time for what?" I ask, still looking at the dancing boys.

"Well for the party of course" says Peter, as he outstretched his arms "This party is for you."

"You're throwing me a party?" I dumbly ask. I haven't had a party thrown for me since my thirteenth birthday party.

"Of course, its to welcome you to Neverland" he explains, with a full smile.

Felix leaves us alone as he goes to sit on a log near the fire.

"I'm afraid I haven't properly introduced myself, I'm Peter, Peter Pan." He bows slightly and offers me his hand to shake.

"I'm Alaina" I say, taking his hand and shaking it.

"Well, I already know who you are" he interrupts. "I've been waiting for your arrival."

"Yeah that's what Felix told me" I affirm, looking at Felix out of the corner of my eye.

"I sent my shadow out to get you, and now your finally here" he announces with a smile and an excited, feverish type look.

"What do you mean by that?" I question, feeling suddenly uncomfortable.

"My shadow has been watching you since you were small. I've been waiting for the day where you'd finally come to Neverland" he explains. "Now that you're here, its time to celebrate."

He takes my hand and drags me towards the other boys. I can't help but feel nervous as he drags me to the middle of the circle with him.

"Our guest of honor has arrived boys, Alaina!" he cheers, as the boys soon follow.

He lets go of my hand and brings his pipe up to his lips. As he plays, the music fills my ears. I can feel a sudden rush of happiness run through my veins. My feet start to move and before I know it, I'm  dancing with the other boys. I'm laughing and smiling more than I had in a long time. I'm so glad Peter decided to throw me this party because its the most fun I've had in forever. He stops playing and smiles at my happy expression. I truly haven't been this happy in a long time.

What feels like hours goes by and we're all still dancing. Peter suddenly hushes the drums and the boys stop dancing. I look around at everyone, wondering what was going on. All the boys stare at me and it makes me feel uneasy. Peter walks up to me and stares me directly in my blue eyes with his green ones.

"You know Alaina, I don't normally let girls stay in Neverland" he blurts out, with no further words.

"No, no, no, please don't make me leave Peter, I can't go back there, please let me stay" I practically beg.

He stares at my pleading expression and lets out a slight chuckle flashing a cocky smirk.

"I know you want to stay" he says while walking away. "Which is why I want you to do something for me."

He walks back over and hands me a crossbow. In his other hand he clutches an apple. I stare at him, completely shocked that he just handed me a weapon.

"I want you to prove yourself to us. I want you shoot the arrow straight through this apple. If you succeed, than you may stay, but if you don't, then you go back to wherever you came from" he explains, clutching the apple in his hand.

I look at him like he's crazy. I think he just might be. I never shot a crossbow before, I don't know what I'm doing.

"Now usually Felix is the one to have the apple on his head, but this time it will be me" he announces to everyone as the boys whisper to each other with nervous looks on their faces.

"You better hope she doesn't miss, Pan" Felix exclaims.

"Don't worry Felix" he says, placing the apple on his head and keeping eye contact with me "I have faith in her."

He lowers his arms a bit but keeps them outstretched as kind of a way to tell me that he's ready. The boys around me start to quietly chant.

"Shoot, shoot, shoot, shoot"

It starts as a whisper and gets louder as time progressed.

"SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT, SHOOT"

I start to take aim. I hope I'm holding it right as I've never used a crossbow before. Once I think I've got my aim lined up, I get ready to fire. The boys chant louder and louder, but Peter doesn't flinch or loose eye contact with me. I slowly pull the trigger and the arrow goes flying. I close my eyes after pulling the trigger, so I don't know if I did it. It was suddenly quiet. I open my eyes and look at Peter. The apple is knocked clean off his head. The apple laid on the ground behind him with the arrow sticking out the other side of it. I look at the other boys and their jaws are down to the floor. 'I did it' I thought to myself 'I actually did it'. Peter walks up to me, not a single scratch on him.

"I knew you had potential" he whispers to me, giving a devilishly handsome grin.

"Boys I present to you, Alaina, our first ever lost girl!" he shouts, lifting up my hand that wasn't holding the cross bow.

The boys screamed and cheered my name.

"ALAINA, ALAINA, ALAINA, ALAINA"

I look at Peter and he's still smiling.

"Call me Pan for now on" he says while still keeping his smile.

I was so happy to be welcomed into my new and permanent home, Neverland.
