Getting Settled

After I have proven myself worthy of living in Neverland, I'm introduced to all the lost boys. Pan says I should be acquainted with all of them since they are my new family. Most of them tell me how impressed they were of my aim with the crossbow. They say it normally takes endless amounts of practice to get your aim that accurate. Pan keeps saying how he knew I could do it. He says he knew I had potential and that he believed in me. That's probably why he volunteered to be the one with the apple on his head.

Not long after I got to know everyone a bit, it was time for everyone to settle in for the night. All the lost boys go their separate ways to their tree houses. I start to wonder where I'm gonna sleep tonight.

"Alaina!" Pan shouts to me. "Follow me!"

"Where are we going?" I ask, following close behind.

"To your tree house of course" he says quietly, looking back at me.

"I have my own tree house!?" I blurt out, completely surprised.

"Well yes, I knew you were coming, so I had one built for you" he explains.

We walk a little further 'till we finally reach it. I climb up the wooden latter into my very own tree house. Its surprisingly spacious for a tree house. It has two windows, a hammock to sleep in, a desk, and two hooks on the wall. Pan comes up the latter shortly after me.

"Do you like it?" he asks, looking around a bit.

"Its great Pan" I smile warmly, still looking at the two hooks on the wall.

"What are those hooks for?" I ask, pointing to hooks like a carious five year old .

He walks over to the hammock and starts fluffing the pillows "Its for your crossbow."

I look down at the crossbow in my hand. The same one I used to shoot the apple off Pan's head.

"You mean, this is mine?" I stare at it and think about all the things I can do with it.

"Well yeah. When I handed it to you it was kind of a gift if you succeeded" he explains, walking over to me.

I smile and stare at my welcoming gift from Pan. I turn around and hang it up on the hooks. I turn back around and stare into his mysterious green eyes.

"Thank you" I utter, feeling welcomed into my new home already.

"You're welcome" he lowly whispers. "Now come on, you need your rest."

He walks me over to my hammock and I lay down in it. He pulls the cover up and over my body. Suddenly, I hear the cries again. Pan looks like he hears it too, but ignores it.

"What are those cries?" I ask with a hint of innocence in my voice.

"Its the cries of the lost boys" Pan explains. "You see, nobody leaves this island unless I allow it. The boys come here because they know of the magic and fun that can be had. But, all magic comes with a price."

"Well lucky for you, I wont be wanting to leave anytime soon" I smile and look at him like a obedient puppy.

He looks at me with a confused look on his pretty boy face.

"Why wouldn't you want to leave?" he asks.

"Because, unlike everyone else who has a family back in the real world, I don't have anything to go back to" I explain, looking out the window next to my hammock. "I haven't had a proper family in a really long time, so its not like I have anyone missing me back in the real world."

"Well if you want, we can talk more about it tomorrow" he says, tucking me in gently.

I close my eyes and concentrate on sleep. Pan blows out the lantern sitting next to my hammock and starts for the latter.

"Goodnight Alaina" he shouts as he's climbing down.

"Goodnight Pan" I shout back.

I can hear his footsteps outside as he leaves my tree house and starts walking over to his own. I look out the window and see that his tree house is right across from mine. I smile to myself as I watch him enter.

"Goodnight, Peter" I whisper to myself.
