"Let's get lunch together Misono-chan!!"
"Sure! Let's!"
I grab my lunch and head out with the others, before saying, "I'll see you later!" to the mysterious boy that sat behind me.
"You're weird Misono-chan...." a girl said.
I look back to the sleeping boy.
"Yeah, I guess I am." I agreed.
We all go down the hall, until someone gently grabbed my arm.
"Hmm?" Everyone turns to look behind me, including myself to see who pulled me back.
"Vice Prez!!!" They all said.
"Gomen, but can I borrow Akiko-chan for lunch?" He smiles innocently.
"Ehh?! But Haruta-kun, she's eating with us!!" The boys stated.
.
The boys stare at Mitsuo's irresistible smile, each one slowly backing down.
"Well, if you say so..." The boys sadly said, feeling defeated.
"Thank you!!" He kindly thanked and walked away. I waved everyone off and trailed behind Mitsuo.
We pretty much walked across almost half the campus to sit on a bench under a big tree.
"Wooah! Your lunch looks so GOOOD Akiko-chan!!" He comments, staring deeply into my colorful lunch.
"E-Eh, thanks...My uncle made it for me. You want to try some?"
"Really? Thanks!" He opens his mouth.
"Are you expecting me to feed it to you?!"
He nods. "Well yeah!" I slightly blush, then use my chopsticks to pick up a California roll with raw fish and avocado on top. I place it on his tongue and pull away the chopsticks. He instantly snaps close his mouth and chews slowly.
"Mmm!!! Oishi!!!"
I examine the happy "little" boy in front of me.
He noticed my stare and asks, "What is it?"
I hesitate to answer.
"You've become childish over the years....what happened to the cool and mischievous boy?
He chuckles to himself.
"I'm only like this because I'm so happy to see you again. Just this once though." He admits.
My eyes slowly widen.
At that exact moment, the wind picked up, blowing the fallen leaves on the ground. (CLICHE!!!)
He lays back against the bench, looking up at the blue and slightly clouded sky.
"How many years has it been since we last saw each other? 8 years?"
I also look up at the sky.
"Yeah..."
"Like, how can I not miss my best friend?"
My chest tightens at the label he's calling us.
"You don't how much I was dying to see you again.."
"Mmm." was all I could say.
"Sure, when I moved, I made friends,"
He slowly looked at me.
"But I never forgot the girl who chased me. It never left my mind."
Inside, I felt my heart flutter, happy to hear he never forgot about me.
"Yeah, I could say the same for you too."
We just sat there silently looking at each other, taking in the moment.
Until, we heard a growl.
He hugs his stomach.
"Sorry, I didn't eat much for breakfast. And I forgot my lunch at home..."
I laugh at his embarrassment.
"Hahaha! You can have some of mine!"
"Hey! Don't laugh!!" He said, turning red.
"Your face is as red as this raw salmon!!" I continued to laugh.
I admit, it was fun talking to him after so many years. We caught eachother up of what happened in our lives,
But the whole time, I never once told the real reason why I was here.
"We need to hang out sometime. There's lots I want to talk to you about." Mitsuo suggested.
"Yeah, we should. Hopefully soon."
I stop in front of my class.
"I'll see you later Mitsuo."
"Yeah, see ya Akiko!" He waved me off and went on his own. I walk into the classroom, finding many stares on me.
"Eeh, um.." I froze, not knowing what to say.
"Are you sure you and VP aren't dating?!"
"Yeah!"
The classroom became outrageously loud, multiple comments be shouted at once.
"Everyone, please quiet down..."
I tried to calm things down a bit, obviously, that didn't work.
I didn't know what else to do, so I stood. I wasn't good at handling situations like this, where there was many voices being said at once so loudly.
I never liked it.
I prepared myself to yell, with no ther thought of what else to do.
Unexpectedly, he looked up from his desk.
And surprisingly, one girl saw him and froze. Then someone else saw her and followed her eyes. Then another. Then another.
Soon, the whole class was frozen, like time stopped.
Suddenly, everyone went to their seats or left the room.
I didn't understand what was happening, so I made my way to my seat. But when I passed him, I realized why everyone acted like they did.
He glared at all of them. And I mean, a MEAN one. He had slight dark circles around his eyes and a terrifyingly scary gaze. I did feel a bit threatened, but I wasn't bothered by it at all.
He then laid his head back down when I came into his view.
I didn't know if it was for his benefit or mine.
I sat down and turned to him.
"Um, thank you...I never liked loud places, so thanks for that," Then quickly added,
"Sorry if I interrupted your sleep." I turned back around and the bell rang.
"How was your day Honey?" My uncle asks, making dinner while observing my reaction.
I spin myself on the spinning chair from side to side. I recall all the events that happened today. Especially my time with Mitsuo.
A smile creeps onto my face and I stop, "It was fun, actually..."
My uncle is stunned for a moment, then gains back his composure.
"That's good Hon." He leans over the counter and kisses my forehead.
"I'm so glad that you're getting better..."
I look down at the counter then back to my uncle.
"Yeah...me too.." I show him a small smile.
