Here I am at Alexander Middle School. Im currently in the 7th grade and I just transferred to a new school. I hate transferring and moving. It's so much work and I have to make new friends. Well, it's not like I had friends at my old school anyways. I'm so shy to the point that it's sometimes unbelievable. "Come on in Ayanna, don't wait out here." Says Mrs.Robinson. Ugh. I pretend to tie my shoe to stall. As I untie my show and tie it back up again, a student walks by me and into the classroom. Giving me a weird look, she enters the classroom. "Ayanna?" Says Mrs Robinson. "Yes I'm coming now. I had to tie my shoe." I lied.
There are so many students in this class and it's only homeroom! What are my other classes going to look like? Where are my other classes? When is lunch? So many thoughts.
"Everyone, this is Ayanna. She just transferred today. You can sit next to Meghan sweetie. Okay class, take out your math practice book and turn to page 60." I don't even have one. "Ayanna, there's an extra practice book in the back, write your name on the side of it and follow along with us." Great. Math class is the first class of the day. Then reading, then science, then social studies, lunch and finally my elective course: band. I play the drums.
It's finally lunch. Thank goodness. My stomach has been growling so much it's ridiculous. Now where am I going to sit? There's an empty spot at the far table, I'll sit there. Meghan sits down with me. "Hey Ayanna!" She says. "Hello. How are you?" I ask. "I'm great! You're in my math class. What class do you have next?" I look at my schedule.Band. "I have band next. What do you have?" I ask putting away my schedule. I have band too! What instrument do you play. I play the clarinet. We should sit next to each other!" She talks a lot, but at least she's talking to me. "Yea sure. Let's walk there together."
I get ready to throw my tray away and I see this cute boy throwing his tray away also. He smiles at me and I almost smile back but one of his friends call him. Man, I could've been his girlfriend. He was cute.

"Yea so this is where you'll sit since you play the drums. I sit here, in the clarinet section." She points out all the spots of where people sit but I'm just thinking about the cute boy I saw. Love at first sight. The day I tell our kids how we met, we saw each other throwing away trash. The only barrier that stopped me from grabbing at him was the trash can. Stupid trash can. "Ayanna? Ayanna! Are you listening to me? You're dozing off." Says Meghan.
"Good afternoon class, Ayanna I heard about you today. Welcome to band class. I'm Mr.Jerald. If you ever need anything, let me know." It's your job. If I need you I'll let you know. "Okay class if you could take out the song piece, 'On My Way Home' we'll get started." Says Mr.Jerald. Meghan passes a copy to me. Suddenly someone busts through the doors. It's that cute boy I saw at the trash can during lunch! "Tyler! You're so late omg!" Yells Meghan. She knows him? "Tyler?" I ask looking at her. Such a cute name. "Sorry Mr.Jerald I'm late, too many kids in the hallway." Tyler says as he seems to be out of breath. "Tyler, this always happens, make sure it doesn't again or it's a write up." Says Mr. Jerald.
Tyler takes a seat next to Meghan, he plays the clarinet too. He is sitting right in front of me omg. I need to calm my racing heart. "Oh hello. I've never seen you before."he says. He noticed me! "Yea she just transferred today! She plays the drums." Says Meghan. "Hi Tyler, I'm Ayanna." He smiles. "Nice to meet ya Ayanna. I hope we'll be good friends." I hope so too. "Yea that would be nice." I say as I blush.

Band class finishes and I'm talking to Meghan. I see Tyler around a large group of girls. "Tyler is really popular with the girls. It's understandable because he's cute." Says Meghan. That hurt me a little. "He is? Wow. That's a lot of girls. Do they all like him?" I ask curious as to what her answer is. "Some of them. I like him but most of those girls are his friends." She says. "He doesn't have any guy friends?" "He does, but they're gay. I thought Tyler was gay too but he isn't." Good. Thank god. I have a chance.

Meghan leaves and I'm waiting for my mom to come and pick me up. I see Tyler coming out of the front doors with two other girls. They all head towards the same car. I guess he is going home with them. I wish I had friends to go home with but then again, I just transferred here. Meghan is kind of my friend but we aren't close enough for her to take me home. Before Tyler enters the Nissan truck, he turns around and waves at me and yells "I like how you played the drums today in band!" That just made my day.

I see my moms car pull up before I can wave back at him. Her car blocks my view of him. I see the Nissan truck driving past my moms car. I see the two girls sitting in the backseat with him and they're all laughing. Sigh. I'm a little upset now.
"How was your first day Ayanna?" Ask my mom. "It was alright. I got lost going to a couple of my classes this morning but I found them. I also met this cool girl named Meghan. She's in 3 of my classes, lunch, math and band. Only if you count lunch as a class." "Well I'm glad you met someone. I hope you make many more friends along the way. Do you have any homework?" She asks. "Yea homework for my math class. It's in my practice book and it's due tomorrow." "Is it hard for you?"my mom asks. "Not really hard I just don't want to do it. I don't like homework mom." I say as I look at my back pack falling onto the floor of the back seat. "I know you don't want to do it but you have to. It's for a grade and homework helps you out if you don't understand the material."

We arrive at our brand new house. I walk to my brand new bedroom and use my brand new bathroom. I wash my hands in my brand new sink and change into some brand new comfy clothes and I get ready to do my homework. Everything is so new for me and I'm loving it except the homework. There's nothing new about that.

Tomorrow is a brand new day filled with brand new class lessons and maybe even a chance to talk more with Tyler. I can't wait until band class.
