"Nash. It's over, so shut up about it! Okay??" Athena snapped coldly at me. I was shocked. I went to grab her hand..Just... a quick one? Milly would never know....
I grabbed her hand, swept her on her heels, and pulled her close. I put my forehead on hers, looking into her eyes, using two of my fingers to make sure she kept her eyes on me.
"Im sorry Athena... I thought I was Augustus Waters... on a roller coaster only going up. But then I met Milly... look, Athena. Im stuck like a fly on fly paper between you and Milly. I don't know who I want, you or Milly. I still-"Mid blink, mid breath, I felt her lips pressed close against mine. I held her close and tight, like a father holding his crying daughter.
"I love you, Ath-"
At that moment, Milly walked in. But you know what? I didn't react to Milly's gaping. If anything, I held Athena tighter, holding her to me as if to protect her. As Athena pulled away with an elephant sized grin on her face, she said, "I love you too, Na-"
She saw Milly, and jumped across the tree house, though it wasn't very far, stammering, "Milly! H-how long have you been standing there?!?!"
"Enough to see everything," she said, grabbing her coat and flying out the door crying.
"Milly! Wait!" I yelled, chasing after her.
