eloise’s pov

I walked into my apartment, Niall following close behind. I dumped my shopping bags on the kitchen counter, before taking a seat at the table, Niall sitting across from me, relaxed. “So, Niall Horan, what’s your ‘secret’. Why don’t you like Christmas?” I said, raising my eyebrows. “It’s stupid. Santa isn’t real, parents are just lying to their children, making them believe in this perky old man, who really could be classified as a ‘pedophile’, and he isn’t true. Santa can’t visit every single house in the world, and deliver presents? It’s ridiculous,” he said, in a very annoyed tone.

“Christmas isn’t only about Santa Claus, yanno,” I said wryly. He rolled his eyes at me. “I know that. I just hate that everyone gets all hectic over it. It’s just another day, basically a second birthday. Sure, everyone likes giving and receiving presents, but it really doesn’t need to be a big deal, does it?” said Niall. “It’s a day full of happiness and togetherness, exchanging gifts and seeing other people happy! How can you not enjoy Christmas?” I exclaimed, throwing my hands up in the air.

Niall shrugged, playing with his long fingers. “I just don’t. Never have, never will,” he said, winking. I rolled my eyes. “Tomorrow and till Christmas freaking Day, are going to go out and do Christmas things, until you find your love for Christmas,” I announced, smiling. Niall laughed. “So basically you’re forcing me to stick to you like glue for the next few weeks?” he said, me nodding eagerly. “I love a challenge. And I am going to make sure, you love Christmas almost as much as I do.”\

I got Niall’s number, and we promised to meet at Starbucks tomorrow morning at 10, to start our Christmas Activities for the day. When he left my apartment, I got researching on the internet, on fun Christmassy things to do, so Niall won’t be completely bored out of his mind. I then made myself a quick dinner, before slotting in the Christmas movie; ‘Elf’ in the DVD Player, and settled down on the couch for the night.

I breezed into Starbucks the next morning, taking a seat at a table, slightly earlier than I had to be. I ordered two coffees, and played a round of Candy Crush, before Niall’s familiar face walked through the door. His eyes scanned the café, and lightened up when they saw me, as he walked over, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Here,” I said, handing him a coffee. He smiled, sitting down, taking a sip of his drink. “So, what’s first on our ‘Christmas Magic’,” said Niall, rolling his eyes.

I smirked. “Niall? Have you got a Christmas Tree?” I asked. “No, wh… Oh,” he said, realising. I giggled. “Do you prefer real or fake?” I asked, as he looked at me. “I prefer none, but I guess, fake?” he said, as I stood up. “Lets go find you a Christmas tree,” I said, as he moaned, following me.

We ended up buying a massive Christmas tree, with a small box of ornaments and lights, to decorate it. Much to his protests, I insisted on setting it up with him, as I already knew that he wouldn’t himself. He huffed, as I followed him down the street, to his flat. It was pretty close to the centre, so it wasn’t far for him to walk to get his groceries and such. It was quite a handy place to live actually.

Niall was carrying the rectangular box, and I carried the square box, full of decorations. Niall fiddled with the lock, before pushing the door open and laying the boxes down on the floor. “You okay?” he asked, as I panted. “Yeah, I..I’m fine,” I said, laughing breathlessly. “Well, I guess the tree could go over there?” said Niall, pointing to a rather bare space. I nodded, ripping open the cardboard box, looking up at Niall, who was just watching.

“Are you going to help me?” I said, as realisation spread across his face. “Yeah, right,” he said, rolling up his sleeves and crouching down next to me. “Okay, do you know how to set up a Christmas tree?” I said, as he shook his head. I sighed. “Okay, the tree is split into three parts, here’s the bottom,” I said, handing it to him, as he went and put it in the bare corner. I carried over the middle part to him, as he took it, locking it into place. He brushed past me, picking up the top part and securing it onto the rest of the tree.

I laughed, punching his shoulder lightly. “See? It wasn’t that bad, was it?” I said, as he rolled his eyes. “I suppose,” he grumbled, as I opened the box full with ornaments. “Okay, lights first?” I said, untangling the massive knots of lights. Niall bent down to help me, ripping them apart, me laughing. “Don’t break them!” I said, carefully undoing my pile. Niall rolled his eyes, but was more gentle. Once I untangled the messy pile, I strung them around the tree evenly, followed my Niall’s uneven lot. I laughed, as he turned around, getting tangled in the lights. I put a hand over my mouth, uncontrollable giggles spilling out of my mouth, as he tried, but failed, to get out of them.

He looked over at me, pouting as I walked over, still laughing. He scowled. “Can you help me and stop laughing Eloise,” he scolded, as I looped his arms through various holes. Eventually he was untangled, and I plugged the cords into the wall. Niall walked over, hanging some ornaments on the tree, as I did the same, laughing at the deep concentrated expression on his face. “What?” he said, his blue eyes looking at me. “You’re kind of enjoying this,” I said, as he shrugged. “It’s not too bad,” he teased, as I rolled my eyes playfully.

After we finished decorating the tree, Niall took a step back and smiled. “See? Christmas time is fun!” I said, as he looked over at me. “Just because I enjoy a pretty tree, doesn’t mean I love Christmas,” he said, poking his tongue out. “Just wait until tomorrow’s adventures,” I said as he groaned.

I laughed. To be honest, today had been the best day I have had for ages.
