eloise's pov
The next day we arranged to meet at Starbucks once again, it seemed to have become our little hangout apparently. I was dressed in nothing special, a Christmas sweater and a pair of blue denim skinny jeans, with my UGG boots. Like I said, nothing special. I sipped on my scorching hot chocolate, relishing the taste of it as it slid down the back of my throat.
The bell jingled as the door was pushed open, exposing Niall, in a Christmas sweater like me, just as I had told him too, and a pair of jeans. He took his usual seat opposite me, downing his hot chocolate like it was water. "Okay, today, we are going to do something fun and outdoorsy," I said smiling, dumping my empty plastic cup in the trash. "Like...?" said Niall, finishing his drink quickly and dumping it in the trash can. "Ice Skating, duh," I said, smirking. "Ok, but why did I have to wear this sweater?" he said, looking down at it.
"Because it's Christmas, so you should wear a Christmas sweater," I said, like it was normal. Niall mumbled cussed under his breath, while I laughed breezily, walking along the pavement, towards a waiting taxi. The ice skating rink wasn't really walking distance, it would take you 45 minutes or more to walk, whereas in the blessed taxi, it would only take about 15 minutes at the most. Niall followed me in the taxi, as we slid on our seatbelts and told the driver our destination, in which he complied.
"So, have you ever ice skated before?" I asked Niall, curiously. "Yeah, when I was younger I guess. I still know what to do though, so prepare to get your butt kicked on the ice," said Niall, winking at me. I laughed. "It's on leprechaun," I said, bumping fists. The driver dropped us right outside, as I paid for the ride and left a generous tip, which made the old driver smile.
I hooked my arm into Niall's as we walked up to the desk, arranging skate sizes. Once we were all kitted up, we walked oddly out to the rink, sliding against the cool ice. It was very slippery, I'll tell you that. I ended up having to run, somehow, to not slip over and fall on my bottom, which would have been very embarrassing. Niall was skating smoothly; he was very good at it. He laughed, when he saw me 'running'. "Are you okay?" he said, cocking an eyebrow. "I'm fine," I huffed, regaining my balance. I'm not going to fall over; I'm not going to lose this bet.
Niall and I skated around together for a bit, just going around and around the rink, arms linked. There were people in the centre, doing fancy tricks and handstands and whatnot, very skilful. Then there was me, struggling to keep my balance and I was holding on to someone! Niall unlinked our arms, and whispered, "Stay here,".
I stood there by myself, careful not to move, otherwise I would end up on my behind.
I saw Niall skate out to the middle, doing all sorts of tricks and twists, leaving me fascinated. He challenged a bunch of the other guys in the middle, to a skate off, and I was very confident he would win. I skated carefully over to the sidelines, and sat down, watching Niall show off his skills. They did all sorts of flips and fancy footwork, which I would never even dream of doing!
Niall ended up winning, not to anyone's surprise really. I skated over to the middle to meet him, as he smiled. "You never told me you were that good!" I said hugging him, inhaling his fruity smell. "I used to take classes when I was little, I kind of forgot how to do it!" he said, laughing. "Forgot? You were amazing," I gushed, as we linked arms again. "Thank you milady," he said, as we took off skating again, a little bit faster this time, much to my many protests.
It was a very fun day, getting some hot chips for lunch, and drinking our beloved hot chocolate, that we both love so much. 5 o' clock came around, nearly closing time, forcing us to get off the rink. We gave our shoes back and collected our normal shoes, UGG's in my case. Niall and I thanked the receptionist, and walked out, choosing one of the 3 taxi's lined up outside.
We both slid into the car, Niall promising to pay for our ride this time, and I finally agreed. I leant on Niall's shoulder, my eyes drooping. His shoulder was very comfortable, with the padding of his Christmas sweater especially. His arm slid around my waist, holding onto it loosely, as we enjoyed the car ride home. Niall paid as promised, and we both departed with a hug, back to our apartments.
I was definitely starting to fall for the adorable leprechaun.
