"the lads"

Haii- so let me get something straight, Maddi is a little strange, and she has a strange way of speaking, and describing, for example: "like wild horses galloping over open plains". (you'll understand once reading this chapter)

also, at the moment, only my friends have read my book (hay guys!) so this is kinda pointless of me asking, but do you think I should take this book towards more of a romance, or more of a normal teen fic. with a little bit of romance.





On the Friday of my third week, Jessie had figured out that she hated my guts, and she 'accidently' let my secret slip.



First week: everything was okay. I was doing well in class.



Second week: People were starting to notice that I am a bit of a nerd and/or geek.



Third week: Jessie started teasing me about reading, and doing work



Fourth Week: CHAOS. After falling over in front of Jesse and her posy, everyone in the whole school is calling me freak, even the Year eights.



I sat down at a cafeteria table and opened my bag to pull out a textbook, a salad and my novel, thinking I was good at multi-tasking, and could read, study and eat at once. Ignoring the sudden noise of a group of boys come in, throwing a footy around, I tried to concentrate on Katniss and Peeta. However the boys sauntered closer to my table and the noise was unbearable. I snapped my book shut and turned to glare at them.



"What's the matter sweetheart, are we interrupting your reading?" what seemed like the leader asked sarcastically.



I had no answer as I stared into his hypnotic blue eyes, noted his chocolate brown, messy, but carefully styled hair, and his stylish clothing. He was like an angel, and I swear for a moment he was almost glowing. I was shattered back to reality, when one of the others snickered:



"Take a picture darling, it will last longer!"



I blushed ruby red and felt my face go hot. I was silently praying he wouldn't know, please, please "Hey, isn't she the 'Freak' Lads?" Angel turned to ask his 'lads',



"Yeah, she is!" exclaimed one of the lads.



"Oh, isn't that lovely! Well we've got to go Freak, I am going to go hang out with my friends, maybe we can do some reading together sometime" Angel said mockingly, then he winked and walked off, tripping some other unfortunate person over as he went.



I didn't know it was possible for my face to be so red and hot. I stared down into my salad and tried to fight back tears of anger, and then sadness, but I couldn't, and they came rolling down my face like wild horses over the plains.



I looked up and watched them leave, there were three.



The Lads



Angel:



Name: Ashton Norby



Position: Leader



Description: Breathtakingly handsome, light brown hair, blue eyes, expensive shirt, jeans and jacket



Attitude: Politely rude (?!?!)



Lad One:



Name: Jaye Valle



Position: Henchman



Description: Short, blonde, hazel eyes



Attitude: Completely and utterly rude



Lad two:



Name: Cody Bayer



Position: newest Lad



Description: tall, very tanned, brown hair, chocolate-coloured eyes, muscular.



Attitude: Not sure, didn't talk.







I packed up all my things, slung my bag over my shoulder and hurried out of the cafeteria, ditching my uneaten salad on the way out. I had hardly got outside before someone tapped me on the shoulder, and I heard a husky, deep voice say "Hey, wait up".



I turned around to see Lad Two standing behind me.



"What do you want?" I asked rudely, "Come to my make my life worse than it is?"



"No, actually I came to apologize, but I can go if you want.." He turned to leave and I cried out



"No! Wait, I'm sorry. I am just so sick of being teased all the time."



"It's fine and I apologize for Ash and Jaye" he said, "they can be jerks sometimes."



"That's an understatement" I muttered under my breath.



He chuckled at me, and I was surprised he heard me, I said it very quietly.



"I'm Cody by the way." He held his hand out for me to shake, which seemed very old-fashioned, but I disregarded it and shook it



"I'm Madison; you can call me Maddi if you want."



"Okay Maddi, will I see you around?" He pronounced Maddi very slow and carefully. I nodded.



"I hope so."

And I walked off, towards my next class.
