That night as I was lying in bed, trying to fall asleep, but thinking about my day instead. Cody was actually really nice, and he could possibly be a really good friend. I couldn't work out why he hung out with such nasty people. I gave up, rubbing my tired eyes. I will never understand guys, I thought to myself, before falling into a deep sleep.
The next few weeks passed through like a blur, I had made no friends, unless you count Cody. On the last day of term one, I caught the bus home. The one good thing about the school bus was that Angel, Jamie and the Lads drive home in their expensive porche's and convertibles'. I had that option of course, my dad pretty much owned a different porche for every day of the week, but I preferred the bus, It gave me some time to think. When I got home Cat was waiting for me at the door. He was so adorable.
Cat
Likes: Food, teddy, me
Dislikes: Isaac, the postman and cheese
Description: Honey brown Kelpie cross Border-collie, 2 years old so he acts like a puppy but doesn't look like one.
"Hey Cat" I said fondly, ruffling his ears
"RUFF RUFF" he yelled running around, jumping on me. Cat was quite a large dog, with a very large tail. As he ran around me trying to get to the open door, his big, thick tail was wagging at almost the speed of light and it managed to make contact with a beautiful porcelain vase, given to Mum for her first marriage. (She's had four) It seemed to happen in slow motion, the vase fell, making its way to the floor, and Cat bolted for the door after realizing his archenemy, the postman was outside. Still in slow motion, I dropped my bag, fell to the floor, and grabbed the vase in one hand, Cats collar in the other. I lay on the floor, panting, hugging the vase to my chest and using all my strength to stop Cat running outside.
"Madison darling, could you be a little quieter, I am trying to watch the news"
I cringed at the use of my full name "Sure Mum, sorry about that"
I got up, still holding the vase and Cat, put the vase on its stand and shut the door with my foot.
"Go find Teddy, Cat", I told him, and he raced off to find his mangy bear.
A few minutes later he came speeding down the hall with teddy in his mouth. I tried to grab it off him, but he gave up a fight, so I gave up and dragged my tired body into the kitchen, cat following me. I put my bag down and got out my favourite snack. Nothing extravaganza, just a good ol' tub of peanut butter. I put it under my arm and grabbed my bag, making my way to my room. I pushed my door open and walked through. I plonked my bag down, put my peanut butter on my desk, while Cat jumped up and sat on my bed. I spun around to turn on the lamp on my bedside table and there on my wall above my bed was a huge, black, furry spider.
Why I hate spiders:
· They are furry
· They are quiet, you never know they are there unless they are in plain sight
· They are poisonous
· They are just scary, and gross creatures.
I screamed, and screamed until Isaac came speeding into my room to see who was being murdered. As soon as Isaac entered my room Cat went crazy, barking and growling at him.
"Shut that damn dog up" He yelled at me, but I ignored him and point at the spider, slowly backing out of my room. Isaac, however, did something both amazingly brave, and stupid. He picked the damn thing of the wall, with his bare hands, and told me to open my window. I love my window, it has an amazing view, over a huge maple tree and onto the ocean. I decorated it with liquid chalk, it has a little border of woven flowers, and a To-do list in the corner. Not too much to cover the view, but it looks pretty. Anyway, still shocked and terrified of the spider in Isaac's hands, I flung open the window and ran a couple of steps backward, tripping and falling over, not bothering to get up.
"Idiot" Isaac muttered, and then he threw the spider out of the window.
I instantly started to yell at Isaac
"What the Heck? That could kill the thing!"
Don't get me wrong, I was glad that foul creature was out of my room, but to chuck it out a two storey window? That's just cruel.
"Relax Maddi, insects don't get hurt from large falls, their bodies are too light to do any damage." He told me, before leaving my room.
"Since when was Isaac smart?" I thought to myself.
I sat up and crossed my legs, Cat jumped off the bed and sat on my lap, stopping me from getting up, I groaned and pushed him off as hard as I could. He didn't move a budge, so I lay onto my back enjoying the feeling of soft carpet, and pulled out my iPhone. This phone was my pride and joy. I flipped it over and stared at my case. It was a simple, clear plastic case, but I had made it special. When I first got it, on my fifteenth birthday, I came home and cut up a piece of paper, into lots of little squares. Fifteen, to be exact, and then on each little piece of paper I drew something special to me. First I drew Cat, and then a big tub of peanut butter, then I drew a pile of books, then a paint brush. When it was finished, I ended up with a collage that could make a stranger feel like he has known me his whole life, with just one glance.
I was snapped out of my daydream as Cat barked and leaped back onto the bed again, to start attacking his disgusting bear. I got up dusted myself off, straightened my school blazer and started my holiday homework (Yes, holiday homework). If that doesn't convince you that I have no life then I don't know what will.
