➵ Chapter Eleven

Daniel takes a shaky breath and knocks on the door to Joey's house.
After a few minutes, Joey swings the door open with a bright grin.
"Hey!" He exclaims, rushing out of the house and closing the door behind him. Daniel chuckles.

"You seem happy, eh?" Daniel says, taking a seat in his old Buick. Joey buckles himself up and gazes over to Daniel.
"I am! Ive been waiting all evening." He replies, shutting the car door and leaning back. Daniel smiles and starts the car.

"Where are we going?" Joey asks, breaking the awkward silence made twenty minutes into the car ride.
"Oh-" Daniel stutters. "I-it's a surprise."
Joey's heart flutters. "I've never been surprised before."
Daniel frowns. "You haven't? You're boyfriend really was shitty."
Joey laughs and sighs. "That's very true."

Daniel parks his car in the parking lot of the fanciest restaurant Joey has ever seen.
"This place has a killer salad bar." Daniel says, stuffing his keys in the pocket of his coat.
"Really? I'm in the mood for some killer salad." Joey jokes, still staring in awe at the restaurant.
Daniel rolls his eyes and leads Joey into the restaurant.
