Gabe and Jack walked into the loud and crowded coffee shop. They walked over to the line and Gabe recognized the man at the counter immediately. He wore an obnoxious cowboy hat and flirted with every man and woman that walked up to him. Gabe groaned."You know that guy?" Jack asked, laughing as someone almost punched him as they walked away from the cash register.
"He's in one of my classes, can't say i'm surprised he acts like this all the time."
Gabe walked up to the register and sighed, before he could get a word out, the man boomed, "Hey I know you!" thankfully the shop was loud enough for no one to notice. "You're in my whatever class."
"Yeah, you tried to hit on he for a week."
The man snorted, "Yeah, sorry 'bout that. Name's Jesse if you care."
"I don't. Can I just have a medium black coffee and, uh," He looked over at Jack.
"Regular cappuccino, please."
"Gotcha. Man, you got yourself a real dime piece here." Jesse grinned at Gabe, who looked pissed off to a whole new level. Jack laughed and they walked away and Jesse immediately turned his attention to the next customer.
"Well howdy darlin'," he said, "Want ya regular?" than his voice blended in with the rest of the conversations in the cafe.
"He seemed nice." Jack snorted as Gabe sighed and rubbed his eyes.
"No." he muttered as they sat down on two chairs. Jack laughed again and he smiled.
The lady called out their drinks and Gabe grabbed them, they both left the crowded shop and instead walked to a park.
"Okay," Gabe smiled, "Why would you come all he way to California to go to college? Are you in sports or something?"
"Nah, I just wanted to get away from everything back home. I mean, I grew up in a small town, not a lot of people liked me and I'd known them all since kindergarten."
"Why the hell wouldn't someone like you?" Gabe seemed literally baffled.
Jack leaned over and kissed Gabe, "Like I said; small, secluded town, old fashion ways, so it was mostly because of that."
Gabe blushed and nodded, "I mean I grew up around Los Angeles." he said, "Always had new people, always had people leaving. I remember the day Amelie came and I actually became friends with her, I got so scared she was going to leave. But she stayed with me."
"Guess we went through different lives." Jack smiled.
"You know, they say opposites attract." they both laughed, and Jack punches him lightly.
"God I didn't think you'd be so cheesy."
They walked back to campus as 6000000 unread messages from Amelie went ignored in Gabe's pocket.
