Million Dollar Maid
Luckiest girl in the world ? Well, that's a matter of opinion. People are quick to judge off that back of the media's fairytale spin-off.
I'm an orphan. First fact, the tabloids missed. I was raised by myself mainly, with the help of a generous old lady who lived around the corner of Burketon Street. She taught me to speak and count, how to tell the time and seasons, the bare necessities of life. All I knew was 'find food, find shelter'. This is the real, stripped back, cold hard facts. This is my story.
I'll never forget my sixteenth birthday. It was the day my life changed forever.
I took myself to the beach, for a change in scenery once in a while, a birthday treat. At sunset I decided to head in to Chellville Street once again. That's when a man clad in formal attire addressed me. Recalling past situations, I tried to avoid the stranger. Nothing worked. This man tried everything in his physical power, literally, to make me hear him out. At first I couldn't tell what he wanted of me, but I certainly didn't expect the offer he was about to make. All I knew was by the time an accord was made, my life was to change forever.
I had to become this hard done by, sob story girl, who had worked as a maid her whole life and found love with a troubled boy. But not any troubled boy, this boy had lived at the house I was employed at, and was a rich criminal's son. Sounds like a plot for a Grammy winning movie, right? Practically. I was to make a life for myself by transforming into this mentally troubled boy's new leash on life.At first I was convinced he had just heard of the homeless girl down main street and decided to play cruel trick to pass some of his 'precious' time. Then he showed me just a little bit of what was coming if I accepted. The contents of his brief case, which he crammed with such amounts of cash, you wouldn't believe me if I told you the figures. He was offering 3 million if I accepted. If I lasted 8 months, we'd go from there. That was twenty five years ago.
