You woke up in a hospital room, machines beeping around you. There were various chords attached to you. You looked around the room, you saw your mother and your father, but you also saw a boy that you recognized. He had curly brown hair, a slight smile on his face which were bordered by dimples. You knew his name, it was Ashton. He went to high school with you, but you didn't know why he was there.

A doctor came in the room before you could ask any questions. The doctor explained to you that you were in a car accident, you had been out for 8 days. They asked you some questions and discovered that you had some memory loss from the crash. Tomorrow they were going to let you go home. Well, "home" because the last place you remember staying was your college dorm.

Before you left the hospital, you got some time to spend with Ashton. "Why...why are you here?" you asked him, afraid that your words were too harsh, "I mean I know we went to high school together. I just don't know what happened from then to now" you said, awkwardly looking at him. He explained to you how you two ended up going to the same college together. Both of you had classes together, and your dorm rooms were really close. You two would always walk to class together and eventually you started dating. Now you two lived together, so he would be the one driving you to the house you two shared. It was what the doctor suggested, to just go on living your life.

Nervously you sat in the car, pulling the seatbelt strap over yourself. When you got to your house, nothing looked familiar. There were tons of flowers set out on the table. Some of the names you recognized, some you hadn't at all. "Do you want to see your room?" Ashton asked you. You nodded, following him up the stairs to a quite large bedroom.

He stood back, letting you take everything in. You looked on the dresser, there was a picture of you on Ashton's back, your arms wrapped around his neck. Both of you were smiling, it looked like you were both soaked as if it had just rained. Next to the photo was a ring. You picked it up and looked at it, examining the diamond. "We..um, we got engaged a few weeks before the accident" Ashton said. You looked at Ashton, and then back to the ring as you set it back on the dresser. The next thing you saw was your guitar. Running your hands over the strings you said, "I remember this. I used to love playing". You looked next to the guitar, there was a drum set. You looked in confusion at Ashton, "I started to play the drums?" You asked. "No, those are mine" he said, "Sometimes we would play together, or sing together". You looked at him with realization, "Oh, that's right. You're in a band? Well, you were? Or are you still?" you asked him. "Yea, we're still a band. Calum, and Luke, and Michael, and I" he said. "I remember them" you said smiling. "So, what do I like to do around here?" you asked him, standing unsure of what to do next. "Well, usually we like to watch movies together" Ashton suggested.

You walked down the stairs, and to the living room. You sat on a single chair towards the corner of the room. Ashton took a seat on the couch in front of the tv. He looked back at you "You can come up here and sit on the couch. I mean normally you do". You got up and sat next to him. His arm wrapped around you, but immediately retreated when you gave him an odd look. While you watched some of the movie, you sat to yourself. It was starting to get late and you had decided that you were tired and wanted to get some sleep.

"I can sleep in the guest bedroom" Ashton suggested. You nodded, letting him get his things. "If you need anything, I'm right in the next room" he told you. You simply nodded again. He started to walk towards you, his arms out as if to embrace you. Stepping back slightly, he understood that you weren't very welcoming of it. He walked out of the room and left you to get some rest.

You laid in bed, but you couldn't help but hear Ashton's voice from the other room. "She barely remembers who I am. Yea she remembers high school, but I'm nothing to her. She won't even let me touch her, Calum". You heard him talking to who you remembered was one of his best friends. "I want...I want her to just remember me" you heard his voice crack, shaking. It was evident that he was crying. You rolled to your side, putting your back to the wall you shared with him. A tear streamed down your face, only to be absorbed by the pillow case.

The next morning you walked downstairs to see Ashton in the kitchen, a mug in his hand. "Hi" he said, greeting you with a smile. You smiled back, opening the fridge. "Hey...are you wearing your engagement ring?" Ashton asked. You looked at him, "Yea, I just really want to try. I'm trying so hard to do everything normal. It's hard to act like I've been in a relationship with you for 3 years when I've barely known you a day. I'm going to need your help" You said, now holding his hands in yours while keeping eye contact. "I promise, I'm going to help you. We're going to do this together" he said, holding you close to him.
