I got off the train, hauling my suitcase. I looked around. The countryside was wet and grey, like I had expected. No one else was standing at the station. It was one of those smaller ones, with a few weed infested plant pots and perhaps a worn bench. A map of the village stood a little further away. I walked towards it, suitcase rattling. I was looking for a hotel, or even a bed and breakfast. Just somewhere to stay the night while I figured out what I was going to do.

The map was bleached by the sun, and graffitied all over. I couldn't make any of it out. Cursing myself and panicking a little, I made for the stairs leading away from the station. Before I walked a few steps, I managed to bump into a boy around my age. He was tall, slightly muscled, and with an air of mischief. Funny, I hadn't seen him before.

"Oh! Um, sorry." I mumbled, making my way back towards the stairs.

"It's ok." He replied. I turned back with a grateful smile. "Where are you going? You seem a little distressed, maybe I can help you out?" He asked with an undeniably sexy smile.

My breath caught. "Well, you see... I'm not exactly sure? I just arrived, I was looking for a place to stay the night, but I don't want to cause you any trouble."

"Oh no, it's fine. I know a few places. Follow me." I wasn't sure I could trust this person. He didn't seem very trustworthy at all, and he spoke with a voice so pointed it was like electricity. Still, he started moving for the stairs, and I decided to follow him.

"Say, what's your name?" He asked as we made our way down the steps. Several drops of water fell from the railway bridge onto my light brown hair.

"Hayley. You?" I asked, with curiosity I was trying to hide.

"I'm Luis." He replied, stopping in the middle of the pavement. He turned to face me. "Let me ask, are you looking for permanent lodging, or just temporary?"

"Em, originally just temporary, but I'm open for permanent." I said.

"Cool. Walk this way." He turned and walked again, this time in the direction of a row of shops.

"So, have you lived here long?" I asked, despising the awkward silence.

"As long as I can remember. I live in this house here, with a few others." He waved his hand in the direction of a large Manor House, looking run down with age, but still bright and welcoming. He walked up the lengthy driveway. "Coming?"

"But this is your house!" I exclaimed. He turned once again.

"Yes, I know. Follow me." I ran to keep up with his fast pace. We finally reached the doorway. It was grand and imposing, much fancier close up than far away. It had engravings of animals and strange looking mutations of people all over. It looked oddly familiar, but I quickly forgot it as Luis opened the door.

This is a new story that I only thought of today, but I'm quite enjoying the idea. I might not post again for a while because I'm preparing for nanowrimo, but I'll try my best :)
