When I turned the flashlight on my phone on, my heart skipped a beat. I took a quick look around. A large spiral staircase was located to my left. Some of the steps were missing and falling off the railing. Cobwebs and spiderwebs were everywhere. Directly in front of me was a small hallway and a door boarded shut with wood and nails. To my right was 3 other doors boarded shut with the same wood and nails. There were streaks of dark red and black running down the boards, almost like someone had dipped their hand in paint and slid it down the boards. God, this place gives me the creeps. As I walked over to examine one of the boards and figure out what the substance was, the door I entered slammed behind me. I swirled around and ran back to the door, bumping into a large desk on my way. I grabbed my side and huffed, then continued over to the door. Maybe the wind blew it shut?
I immediately tried to open the door, but it wouldn't budge. Odd, it wasn't like there was a lock on it or anything. There was nothing blocking the way of opening it, so why won't it open? I pull on it more and more. As more minutes pass by I get more and more irritated. I've been pulling at this door for about 10 minutes now, and it still won't budge. I pull out my phone again and dial Spencer's number. It doesn't even ring, there's no service out here. Of fucking course.
I slam my fists against the door in protest and yell for my friends outside. Did they do this on purpose? No, they wouldn't.
I take my fists and start pounding on the door again. Or would they? I could see Spencer doing something like this, since he was the prankster of the group, but I'm sure I would've heard him come up to the steps. When I walked up them the creaking was horribly loud. But then again maybe it was an elaborate prank. If it was, I was surely going to kill them once I got out. If I got out.
Fuck. I continue to pound on the door. "If this is a prank, I swear to fucking God Spencer, you will not live to see another day!" I yell. I slam my fists against the door again. I wasn't supposed to stay in here this long. I only had to come in here with my camera and take a few shots, then run back out. It's been about 30 minutes already.
My fists come to a stop when I hear a scream next to me and then a loud bang, like another door slamming. I drop my phone and the room goes pitch black, accept for a small hole in one of the walls near the staircase. I freeze and try to look around. I can't see much but I can see a small light being emitted from underneath the desk I had bumped into earlier. I touch my side where the sharp desk had scratched me and my eyes widened. Great, I got cut on a fucking desk. Just great. I roll my eyes in response.
I walk over carefully to the desk to grab my phone, when I hear another ear splitting scream, except this time it's farther away. My heart speeds up again. This has to be a prank. It's just Spencer and the rest messing with me. It's all good, calm down Jade.
I reach the desk and lean down to grab my phone when once again, I'm welcomed with another slimy substance. I cringe, and continue grabbing for it. My hand roams over something else, what it is? I grab it and I cringe, once again, because of the texture. Wet, maybe? But furry? I turn it over to look at it and I immediately throw it on the opposite side of the room. I let out a blood curdling scream and quick grab my phone from underneath the desk. I point my flashlight to over where the object was.
I gulp and take a step forward. I couldn't tell if it was a cat or dog, all I know is that I only picked up half of whatever animal it was, and now my hands and unfortunately, my phone, was covered in blood and guts.
My head starts spinning and I get light headed. I lean against the wall and let my head fall back. I groan out loud try my best not to tear up. There was no way that was a prop. It was much too real.
Another scream sounded throughout the house and is followed by silence. Then light tapping against one of the boarded up doors. I didn't stay long enough to figure out which door it was. As I ran over to the staircase, I accidently stepped on the animal, and I looked down to see it smashed against my combat boot. I lean down and suddenly all the food I had eaten in the last 24 hours was emptied onto the floor. After giving myself a couple seconds to regain balance, I looked up at the stairs. Did I really want to travel up those stairs? I could easily fall through and end up breaking something, or I could stay in the little area and witness what else lays behind those doors. As soon as I heard another scream, I bolted up those stairs.
Not one of my smartest decisions. I tripped over a few, and my boot got stuck in one of the missing steps, causing me to trip and fall onto my face. I slowly lift myself up and touch my face, bringing my finger up to look at. I don't know if I've ever seen this much blood in real life. My hand clings to my face and I continue up to the stairs. Once I get to the top, I look down.
Once again, not a smart idea. My eyes widen and my heart beats out of control. I can't quite seen who the figure on the bottom of the steps was, but I was still felt like I was going to pass out. And I did.
