Chapter 38 - I Can't (Part II)

I dried myself, and changed back to some dry clothes. Marshall had threw me into the pool because I didn't get in with him, so I'm gonna definitely have to get him back.

Chloe's better, she's no longer complaining about pain so that's always good but, she doesn't want me to do talk to the girls parents that did that to her. I get it though, she'll feel even more embarrassed that I got involved, but I can't help wanting to choke someone out for it.

I grabbed my radio, and clipped it on my waist just so I can hear if anything is going on. I walked back outside to see Marshall, and Royce about to set off some fireworks. It's already eight o'clock, damn the time passed quickly. Sitting down with Chloe in a chair, I wrapped my arm around her as we watched Marshall, and Royce run away from the fireworks they just lit.

"I like it here. My parents never did stuff like this, the fourth of July was always just a regular day. Halloween, and Christmas were regular days too" Chloe said as we watched the firework burst in midair.

"My parents were the same, but don't worry it's not gonna be like that anymore" I smiled at her.

"Oh, yo babe. I forgot to ask you this, when do you wanna move in? I can get you fully moved in by Friday" Marshall said.

"We're moving in with Marshall?" Chloe asked.

"Yeah, I was gonna tell you later when Evan's eyes aren't glued to his phone
screen" I chuckled.

"This is awesome, I'm gonna go tell him" Chloe said, and ran to Evan.

"I'm guessing she's excited" Marshall said, and sat down with me.

"Yeah, she was telling me a few minutes ago she liked it here cause her parents never did stuff like this. I need to give them the life I've always wanted, and the life they deserve after all the stuff they've been through" I say, and watch Denaun set off a firework.

"I think your doing a good job, they look real happy" Marshall says, and I smile. "Why didn't ever think about having your own? Like biological" Marshall added, I shifted in my seat awkwardly, I knew he would eventually ask why.

"I can't have kids" I whispered. "Every time I tried, they always led to a miscarriage" I said.

"Oh.. I'm sorry for bringing this up" Marshall apologized.

"No need to apologize, I knew I was gonna have to tell you sooner or later" I say, and Royce yells my name. "What's up?" I ask him.

"Get off your butts, and light stuff
off with us" Royce says, and I chuckle before getting up with Marshall.

I set a firework on the ground, and adjusted the stick that I had to burn then lit it. I ran back, and Marshall held my waist as we watched it go off in the air. I looked back at all the kids, they were all watching the fireworks, and having conversations amongst themselves. Everyone looked like they were having a good time.

Unexpectedly my radio went off, and I listened to the call. Some big car accident by my apartment, eleven people are injured, and they need more people to help.

"Babe I gotta go" I say.

"Why? What happened?" Marshall asked.

"Big accident, they need more people" I say, and run inside to change into my uniform.

I run back outside in less then three minutes fully dressed in my uniform, and my tech bag slung across my shoulder.

"Why are you in your uniform home girl" Kuniva steps up, and asks me.

"Work calls" I say. "Marshall can I borrow your car?" I ask.

"Yeah of course" Marshall says, and hands me the keys then I immediately ran to his car from the backyard.

The accident was so bad, I was there for five hours. It's currently one thirty in the morning, and I'm pulling back up to Marshall's place. I take the house key that's on the key chain, and open Marshall's front door to see him sitting on the couch watching tv. Did he wait up for me?

"Hey where's Chloe, and Evan?" I ask.

"In their new rooms upstairs sleeping" Marshall chuckled. "Everyone left an hour or two after you left, and I couldn't sleep knowing your at an accident so, can we go to bed now?" Marshall asked.

"Yes we can go to sleep now" I smiled at him. "But I'm gonna shower first, can't get you sick" I said, and went upstairs to
shower.

After I got out the shower I put on one of Marshall's shirts, and climbed into his bed with him. Once I laid down he grabbed my waist, and pulled me closer to him. I buried my face in the crook of his neck, and placed a kiss on his neck before dosing off.
