“There you go.”
“How can I be a vampire? How... how is this even possible?” I asked. My breath had come out in pants now as I tried to slowly gather this incredulous guy’s claim. “Vampires aren’t even real.”
“You’re still... in denial?” He asked, warning to laugh.
“How do you think... how do you even give it a single thought... that I would be a vampire with just one bite?”
“It’s not just one bite. I have to bite you, and you have to die first while a vampire’s blood is in your system and drink human blood when you come back to life.” He said.
I snapped. “Listen to yourself! You expect me to believe that?”
He shrugged.
“Don’t shrug at me!” I cried at him. “How... how did I...?”
He leered before speaking again. “I found you at the hospital when I was getting some... snack.”
My eyes widened. “You kill people?”
“No, I don’t. What I meant was... I found you when I raided the hospital’s blood bank.” He explained and continued when he realized I was able to breathe properly again. “Upon overhearing the doctor’s conversation with your uncle on the phone and knowing that he didn’t want to come, I pitied you. I learned that you’ve had Leukemia for almost a year and you didn’t want to receive treatment and that you never said a word to anyone, not even your uncle or your little blond best friend.”
I cringed as I listened to his words. Death wasn’t exactly on the number one spot of my Frightening list, Freddie Kruger is. That is why I didn’t tell anyone about my condition. The doctor that diagnosed it strongly suggested me to at least tell someone like my uncle so that he would send off money for treatment purposes but I would always say, “His money is dedicated for his Cuervos and Vodkas. He wouldn’t send a cent to me.”
“Why didn’t you?” He asked.
“That’s none of your business.” I snapped. “Was that the only reason why you turned me?”
“No, I turned you at night. I overheard the doctor’s booty call in the morning.”
I sniggered.
“I... did some research about you. This town’s a small town; you know that, don’t you?"
"No."
"Now you do." He saide. "It was easy. I learned that the town’s chief police’s daughter is your best friend. So I went straight to her. And that’s how I found out about your Uncle and your favourite colour... and seventeenth of November, year twenty-ten. Dear, she talks a lot.”
I blushed. That was the date when my first period visited. That little traitor. I’ll make sure she gets it later. “How much did you ask her and how much did she tell you?”
“A lot. Really. A lot more than I asked for.”
Horror remarkably dawned at my face. I can’t even start on how big she must’ve gone on about me.
I bellowed. “How did you made her tell you those things? Elizabeth is the daughter of the chief police; she’s a big fan of ‘don’t talk to strangers’.”
