"999 what is your emergency?"
"SOMEONE JUST SHOT MY HUSBAND! HE RAN TOWARD THE POLICE STATION! PLEASE COME QUICK !"
"We have police stationed outside and they are on there way. Can you describe the man?."
"He's about 5'10 with straight brown hair! Caucasian!"
"Perfect, just stay with your husband ma'am, someone will be there soon."
"Thank you!" The women hung up and the cops headed out, which includes me. I was in the dispatchers heading to the house and on our way we saw the man. We had to get outta the squad car to chase him down. He ran into an alley but I was the only one brave enough to follow knowing he had a gun in hand.
He held it up and I stopped running.
"Back up or I'll shoot!" He yelled
The alley was shaded and the sun was setting so I couldn't see him well. All I saw was his raised arms and his slim figure. I stepped forward a little and he put his finger on the trigger.
"I said back up!" He yelled again
I don't know why but for some reason, I didn't believe he would pull it,
So I stepped forward again.
He started to shake and slowly lowered his arms, pointing the gun to the ground. I walked up to him, probably closer than I should have.
I inspected him. He was gorgeous.
He had a jaw line that could cut glass and amazing pale blue eyes.
He was wearing a blue sweater and black skinny jeans. I looked back up and saw a tear start to form in his eyes and then it fell.
"Please don't take me to jail." He said. He sounded so weak and frail. He seemed broken and...innocent? But he just shot a man. Or maybe he didn't.
"What's your name?" I asked him.
He cried a little more. I had already radioed the men to to come in here.
"M-my names L-Louis. Please please don't take me to jail" he started to sob and he fell to the ground.
"Hey Lou, stand up c'mon."
The pet name I used made him look up. I held out a hand to him. He took it and stood up, not letting go immediately.
"Ok calm down and explain to me what happened."
"IhadjustboughtanewgunandIwasplayingaroindwithit-"
"Ok ok slow down try that one more time" I giggled abit and he huffed out a laugh.
"Ok, I had just bought a new gun and I was kinda waving it around, it was really stupid I know but I was just excited. I hadn't bought any bullets yet so there shouldn't have been any in there at all. When it shot I realized it went into someone's yard and I ran. Kinda stupid but I didn't know what else to do."
He finished and I just looked at him. I don't think he knows he shot someone.
"Louis, do you not realize you shot a man? That why we got the call." I had to tell him.
He looked up at me with his eyes full of dread. He had had no idea.
"Oh my god, I-I shot someone?"
I nodded. He looked back up at me then down to his gun. He opened it, checked for bullets, and then threw it. It landed really far away were I couldn't see it.
"I'm done with guns." He walked over to the wall and sat down. I followed and sat next to him.
"What am I gonna do?" He asked staring at his hands while twiddling his thumbs.
"Well I don't know. What do you think you need to do?"
I could see him contemplate the possibilities and he tensed up as if he were about to get up and run, but he didn't.
"Come back to the station with you?" He looked right into my eyes and I nodded.
I stood up and he followed my actions while walking side by side, he nervously took my hand interlocking our fingers. I let him because I knew he was scared but also because I liked it. It felt right somehow. Something about that look in his eyes now gleaming when he looked into mine. He got into the back seat letting go of me. I had already told the others to head back to the station because he was comfortable with me. They listened and left a couple minutes earlier. I turned on the radio just loud enough to hear it. I figured I'd get to know him.
"So Louis, how old are you?" I looked at him through the rear view and he looked back at me.
"I'm 20" (A/N I'm perpously not making this accurate) He answered with a small smile. I smiled back.
"Cool, so do you plan on buying another gun anytime soon?" We both giggled.
"Never again. I hope he's ok. I didn't kill him did I?" He instantly looked terrified like he hadn't thought of it before. "No they told me a little bit ago that he was only hit in the arm. No major arteries were hit." I reassured him that he was ok and he sighed in relief. "Ok good." He looked back down. We pulled into the station and even I had to prepare for what lied ahead because I hadn't told then anything.
