"Hello, Verity." Verity stopped as she heard a voice. It sounded familiar. Very familiar. Verity looked around and saw a strange man sitting by the window. It was dark out and Verity flipped on the lights. She gasped at what she saw.

"L-Loki?" She asked. But, he didn't look like her Loki. He looked older, a good 15 years or so older. Late 30's maybe. He was still attractive and young-like. He was more manly with stubble on his chin. He was smiling.

"Sort of." He said. "It's good to see you again." Loki got up and walked over to her. He was taller too just by a good inch or so. Or a lot more. She would have to bother with that later. "Last time I saw you, you were just a ghost trapped in a soul on my wrist." Verity felt sort of intimidated by him. She looked at him confused. He wasn't lying about the soul thing.

"What?" She asked. Shocked. "Alright, this-this is getting creepy already." She shook her head and put her hands up. She turned away from him and walked around him. He smiled.

"Is it?" Loki asked as he turned around. "Wasn't really going for that. But, it's true. The last time you and I were together the world had ended and you were a ghost by my side, or on my wrist, I guess." He sarcastically raised an eyebrow. "But, you already knew that, Miss Verity Willis." He turned around and said begrudgingly. Verity looked at him questioningly. He called her that before, but, not in that tone of voice. It was striking.

"What's with the tone of voice?" Verity asked. Trying to ignore the 'world had ended' comment. Being friends with Loki this seemed strange but, at the same time it didn't phase her.

"Huh?" Loki asked in a cheery tone again. "Nothing. But, I guess you aren't bothered by having your own future told to you." Verity got a drink and turned around looking at him. She looked worried a bit.

"What do you mean?" Verity asked. She set her drink down. "I know it's all true but-."

"Of course you do." Loki smiled. "You know every truth from every lie don't you?" Loki walked over to the counter where she was and leaned on it. His head supported by his hand.  "However, that's with the me in this time period. With me you can't really tell."

"I can see through any lie, Loki. Including yours." Verity said. Had he forgotten? Loki got a big smug grin as he chuckled. An evil overtone to it all.

"Not my lies." Loki said. "After spending about anything from 10 years or beyond with your soul, I figured out how to override that." Verity felt a pang of fear. "But, let me assure you. You do end up as a bracelet. Just as that 'Loki that could be' turns into the center of my staff." Verity lifted an eyebrow. Loki brushed some of her deep red hair off her forehead. "I almost forgot how pretty you were. How colorful as well."

"Liar." Verity said as she pulled back from him. Loki looked genuinely surprised.

"How did you-?" Loki asked. "You should have seen that as the truth!" Verity shot a dirty glance at him.

"I can see through any lie." Verity said. "Your body language also told me that was a lie." Loki's green eyes widened.

"And so history repeats itself." He glared and straightened his back. "Tch." He sounded hurt. "I try really hard to make my body language as complicated as I can to make it so people can't tell. But you're the only one who's ever caught that flaw." Loki sighed. "Alright then, you 'lie detector on legs', how about this: in two minutes I'll stab you right in the back and force my now self to watch."

"Lie." Verity said. Her eyes grew wide as it clicked. She lowered her drink and stared at him stunned. She backed up. "Why would you-?" She looked hurt. While Loki just smirked with malice in his eyes. "D-don't, please, we're supposed to be friends." He walked near her. She backed up further and hit a wall. He took another step closer.

"Not if I can help it." The older Loki stopped hearing his own voice. Suddenly their was a sword to his throat. His younger self became visible in front of Verity guarding her with his body. "Step back."

"Don't get yourself attached to a mortal." Older Loki said. "She's not worth saving. Trust me, she'll only slow you down. You'll regret not killing her yourself when you get to my point." Older Loki smirked and Verity yelped as something grabbed her pushing her away from the wall. Young Loki watched as he dematerialized and spun around. "Also," Older Loki stood behind Verity his hand gripped on Verity's arm. "Don't fall for your own tricks." Verity gasped and screamed as something was shoved deep into her back. Her eyes were wide and she collapsed. "She was right it was a lie. I was going to stab her in three."

"Heh," younger Loki smiled. "Speak for yourself."

"Wha-?" Older Loki asked. He looked at his knife. No blood. He looked down at the floor. No Verity. He was confused. "Where-?" He suddenly realized something. "October 29th." He said to himself. "Verity wasn't home. So you-?"

"She was never in any danger." Young Loki said.

"But, how?" Older Loki stared. "Illusions are supposed to disappear once touched."

"Not mine." Young Loki said. "I created a new way to make illusions after, learning about your little plan. Trust me, you guys showing up is getting old."

"You son of a bitch." Older Loki cursed.

"If I'm a son of a bitch then, you're a son of a bitch too." Younger Loki pointed and said. "You just got loki'd." Older Loki attempted to stab younger Loki pushing him down against the counter. Younger Loki laughed and stopped the knife. Smiling he darkly said. "Don't you see? If you kill me; you kill yourself." Older Loki stopped a look of dark realization on his face.

"I'm use to it!" Older Loki roared as he stabbed his younger self in the chest. Younger Loki smiled through the pain and through gritted teeth said:

"No, you aren't." Older Loki's eyes grew wide as young Loki dematerialized. Older Loki dropped the knife.

"This isn't a damn game!" Older Loki yelled.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Younger Loki said with a hand of cards. He was sitting at the table with a young female wearing the same thing as him sitting across from him. "You can pick the game next time." Young Loki put down his hand of cards. "I win."

"No, you don't." Lady Loki said putting down her hand of cards. All Aces. "I do." Young Loki frowned.

"I just lost to myself!" He gestured to her. He laughed and he dematerialized. Older Loki's eyes widened.

"I just won a game against myself." She smirked. "Sorry, I couldn't fight you myself but, I just painted my nails." She showed him her black nails. Older Loki huffed and opened a portal leaving Verity's apartment. She got up from the table and turned off the lights. Leaving, she locked the door and laughed. "I just Loki'd myself. I'm extremely proud."
