PHIL

Phil was in a really grumpy mood but tried not to show it because he thought that if he acted grumpy, how would he improve other people's moods? He had been working at the coffee house for the past three hours, and that too after school, on a Monday. He was completely exhausted and had a literature paper due the next day, which he hadn't completed yet.

"Would you like to order something ma'am?", he asked the woman at the counter, a smile plastered across his pale face.

As he took the woman's order, he thought about school, how it was his senior year and he still felt like he didn't have a close friend with whom he could talk comfortably. "Have a good day ma'am!" he smiled, and the woman shot him a disgusted glance, clearly showing that she wasn't in the mood for his positive vibes. "Ookay...", Phil though that maybe he should cool down with his "positive" demeanor.

He was thinking about his paper, school, how lonely he was and so many other things at the same time when his train of thoughts was broken by the sound of his name.

"Phillip", Mr. Treeger, the manager of the coffee house called out. "There will be a new waiter joining here tomorrow, and it is your job to make sure he knows the ropes of the job within two weeks. Clear?"

"Yes Mr. Treeger", Phil said quickly, he was still deep in thought and barely registered the meaning of the words. He got out of the shop as soon as his shift ended, absolutely exhausted. It was only when he was walking back home that he registered the meaning of what the manager of the shop had said. "Lets just hope the new guy isn't a douche bag" he muttered to himself.

Phil sat in his bedroom, trying to work on his english paper. He had to write a fivr page summary of The Little Princess and he had loved reading the book. In fact he had loved it so much, he finished reading it the same day he started it. However, he couldn't think of what to write, no matter how much he tried. This always happened to him, he loved reading but whenever he was asked to write or talk about what he had read or how it had affected him, he was at a loss for words. He felt too self conscious and had no idea how to put his thoughts into words.

He sighed loudly as his thoughts swarmed around his head, close to forming eligible sentences- but not quite. Frustrated,he threw his laptop on the bed giving up for the time being. His thoughts went back to the coffe shop, and he seriously hoped that the new guy wouldn't be a bore like the rest of them.

He procrastinated writing the paper, and fell asleep on his laptop, soft snores escaping his lips as he slept, at peace for the moment.
