Emersons pov

The end of college
(4 years later)

I sat alone at a table in some random coffee shop located just outside of my college. I was drinking some coffee, typing away at my computer when my phone dinged. I checked who it was from and sighed placing it back down.

Beginning to type my assignment again I heard the familiar ding once again, ignoring this time I didn't take my eyes of my computer screen, but a couple different dings in a group let out, causing people to look at me. Sighing, I picked it up and replied.

Chandler
Hey, please talk to me

Emerson❤️
No

Chandler
Em

Emerson❤️
No Chandler, okay? Look, it's over, why don't you get over it and move on, like a normal person.

Chandler
But Em

Emerson❤️
Bye

I turned my phone off and just went back to typing, thinking about that day, thanking about how different our lives were.

•flashback•

"Chandler, stop this." I grabbed his shoulders and pushed him back a bit, which pissed him other more.

"Look, I'm sorry, I'm sorry things have to change but it's for the better." I placed my hand gently on his face and wiped his tears away.

"I'm going to college, and it isn't close. Chandler, we won't be able to hold off, we'll find different people." My tears began to flow down my face as he tilted his head down.

"I can hold off, I know I can. Em I love you." His words shattered my heart like a piece of fragile glass falling into the solid ground.

"I can't live without you."
His cries turned into sobs, which broke me more.

"Yes you can," I cried harder, "I'm just a person." I just turned and left, somehow breaking more. I didn't even know that was possible. I was leaving the person I'm deeply in love with. How would I even get over this.

•end of flashback•

I wiped away the tears that slid down my pale white cheeks. I needed to stop thinking of that. I got up from my seat and packed my computer away, grabbing my coffee I left the shop. As I walked down the street a saw a figure coming towards me, this figure looked very familiar and as I got closer I noticed it was Maddison. Yeah, we started friends, she was the only friend I could depend on.

"Maddison." I asked completely shocked to see her here.

"Hey," she hugged me tightly and looked at me, "you were crying."

My smile faded and I continued to walk with Maddison right next to me, not stopping the endless questions.

"I'm fine, Maddison, I promise." I lied, I wasn't okay, and I wouldn't be ever again.
