Blinding lights shower me in pain. My legs flopping in a steady staccato beat. I'm being carried, unconscious and oblivious to reality. My eyes are glazed over but I'm still alive. The clicking of heals matching my pounding head.
Blood. It's all that I can remember clearly. Except
The copper smell and acrid taste, my tastebuds rejecting furiously. Marron red that is so, so angry. All I can hear are the sounds of walking. The thundering thudding sound of combat boots as the soldiers rushed into my house. Mom screaming and Dad yelling. Pop, pop, thud. One down. My sister clinging to me and crying violently. White and red and green blending in a blur. A handprint of DNA stains my shirt from my fathers last words. Fingers that curl and go limp and my sister is dragged away from my protection. Blue seeping thru her skin until I can faintly see her fingerprints. Then there's a prick in the back of my shoulders and my own head falls to my chest. First they try dragging me. But eventually I'm too heavy and a teenaged boy picks me up and looks down at me with a guilty, grief stricken face.
There's a click of a key lock and the rattling of a door. Cold silver of a heartless metal table. My body lies at odd angles. A mangled whimpered cry escapes my lips. I feel pressure in my head. It hurts, so much. Everywhere. Sharp pricks in my legs. Numbness in my arms. Tightness through my chest. But calmness surrounds my presence despite the situation. And the void of blackness soon consumes my vision and sleep controls my mind.
