Chapter 1

"Lu!! hurry up we're going to be late!" screamed a familiar voice outside my room. I looked out at my phone and It was 8:00, which meant I was extremely late. I jumped out of the bed and ran to the washroom, wore my uniform and came running down the stairs to see the face of the moat annoying boy in this world "Can't you just wake up on time for once in your life you 'loo' girl" he smirked as he said that, grabbed my hand and before I even knew what happened I was running on the road to go to school.

Ohh and if your wondering who this 'mysterious annoying boy' is, he's my neighbour and childhood friend caleb. We both are currently high school students, studying at St.Claries high school, same classroom and also seat partners. It's almost like fate but it's actually not fate but his personality and our relationship. Mr.Annoying here is also Mr.Popular at school which in turn makes me the enemy of girls as we are close and since girls are crazy about him the teachers find it better to Make me sit next to him since I don't belong in the category of the 'Mr.Populars fangirls'

We reached school just as soon the bell rang but dint make it on time for the first period. " Lucy Collins and caleb woods! Both stand outside the classroom", so we were supposed to be out there for an hour, I glanced at caleb who dint speak a word which was extremely unusual so I naturally thought he must be angry at me since I was the reason he was late. I mustered up my courage since I'm not good at dealing boys when they are angry "umm...caleb look I know your really angry at me so I wanted to say I'm really sorry and I wo..." I stared at him in disbelief, my face flushed with anger and embarrassment and so I kicked him hard on his abdomen "Uff!" and he fell on the ground. He rubbed his eyes then wiped his drool and stared at me with anger " what the hell was that all about!!" he said while getting up

"you deserved it!"
"huh what do you mean I deserved it!, I dint even do anything!"
"You did, you were sleeping while standing!!"
"so?!"
"so?...so I..." I dint know what to say, I couldn't tell him that I kicked him cuz he was sleeping cuz that would be kiddish but that was the genuine reason why I did it.

But none of that mattered cause right now we were screwed "Miss Stewart, we're terribly sorry we..." but of course our plead was futile " Lucy and caleb, BOTH OF YOU IN THE STAFF ROOM RIGHT NOW!!"

She sat there, pulling out our marks card and using the other hand to fix her messy bun. She looked at both of us then gave out a sigh and kept it on the table while removing her specs,"Lucy and caleb, I hope you both have a reasonable explaination this time too" caleb gave her an apologetic look which I knew was an act "I'm really sorry Miss Stewart, if she hadn't hit me like that I wouldn't have..*sniff*..wouldn't..." caleb said with crocodile tears. Miss Stewart AKA Miss Rockfish looked at me with dissappointment and said, "Lucy dear,I think you and me need to have a talk". I tried to tell her that I wasn't at fault but it's not like caleb was lying and Miss Rockfish excused caleb who shot a smirk at me while leaving the room. "Lucy, do you mind explaining to me what happened?" I looked down at my leg since that's the only thing I could do at this situation "Hello, Lucy! I'm talking to you itself right?!" I looked up at her with puppy eyes "I'm sorry Miss Stewart, I promise this won't happen ever again". She gave a sigh again and said," okay fine Lucy, but if this happens again I won't go easy on you both". I told her sorry again and left the room and headed to the classroom

"lulu..lulu!...LULU WAKE UP!!" I got up startled just to meet the face of my best friend Rachel who was munching on chips and behind her was caleb who was too busy texting someone. I looked around and everyone was busy packing their bags, making plans and others getting things ready for their club practises
"what time is it now?" I asked Rachel while rubbing my eyes
"It's 1:45"
I looked at Rachel in surprise, "1:45?, then why are everyone packing their bags and I've been asleep since the first period? "
"well if you had got up earlier then you would have known, you dummy" caleb said putting his phone inside his pocket and carrying my bag

I got up confused and looked at both of them "known what?was there some kind of event today?". They both exchanged looks as we were walking to leave the school, "No you dummy, dint you see the news yesterday and din't the school inform your parents that there will be half day today because of the storm alert". I looked outside the window in the corridors as Rachel informed me about it, and it did seem cloudy but funny I dint notice it or hear about it before I came to school.

"Bye bye lulu and caleb!", Rachel waved as she ran on the opposite direction. Caleb looked at me with a serious look "hey is everything alright?, you've been weird since morning"
"weird? How?"
"well ever since we came to school you randomly kicked me, then you fell asleep in class the whole day and have been distracted alooot"
"oh yeah sorry about the kick, it's cause you fell asleep"
"huh? Okay nevermind that, did your parents not call you last night and inform you about the storm? "
"nope, they did not"

Caleb gave me a blank look then gave me my bag as we reached my house " go inside and eat okay? Also lock the house and if the storm really happens then I'll come and take you to my place" I nodded my head and got inside. I changed my clothes, ate lunch and switched on the T.V to a news channel, "There will be a storm at around 5:00 today near the coastal regions of.....The residents of those areas are requested to stay at home and....". I switched it off and removed all the clothes from the balcony then locked it up and that time the door bell rang. I went downstairs and opened the door but there wasn't anyone there. I locked the door thinking it was some sort of a prank but honestly a prank when there was supposed to be a storm, I headed to my parents balcony. It was 4:45, 'storm at around five today' it kept repeating in my head but right now there was a girl probably just entered her teens was staring at me. Her stare was ice cold almost like a dagger piercing me, I couldn't move, I couldn't stop looking at her, it was almost like she hypnotized me or like a snake coiled around me just hissing at me.

Just then I felt a strong hand grab me from the back and I yelled dropping the keys. I looked around and caleb was looking at me all surprised and shocked "Hey Lu, what's wrong? What happened? " I caught his arms tightly and started crying while pointing outside "ca-caleb...That that tha-that the...." I trailed off, I couldn't believe my eyes, that girl wasn't there anymore. Caleb carefully removed my hand as though I was some sort of a delicate piece and then picked up the keys to lock the balcony. "Lu, I don't know what happened but go downstairs and wait for me near the entrance and don't step outside the house till I come, okay?" I looked at him and nodded my head, I was too startled to say anything or talk anything. I heard the sound of the curtains closing and the sound of thunder rumbling, it had already started raining. I wore my rain coat and shoes then caleb came downstairs "okay, I have locked up everything and it seems you had locked up everything here so lets head home after I switch off the electricity supply" I got up and took the house keys while the lights had gone off. I could hear the sound of thunder clearly now and the lightning flashing could be seen through the translucent curtains "lets go", caleb said while holding my hand.
