little things - jeongcheol

jeonghan arrived home, upset from today's events at school. it was one of those days in which everything within him just felt like exploding out in a river of tears. he couldn't withhold his emotions. not with the way his peers treated him

he wished he could just forget every little thing they said. it shouldn't affect him as much as it does, he knows this for a fact. without his knowledge, he begins to sob uncontrollably on his bed. lying there in hopes to let everything out with no one finding out.

it has never been his intention to let others know when he was weak. but that day, it seemed as though his best friend had something else in mind. as jeonghan lay in bed, he felt a warm hand caress his back, and a soft voice calming him down. slightly frightened, he looked over with wide eyes and recognized the person he loved most, aside from his parents.

it broke seungcheol' heart to see his best friend in such a state. he hated every single moment he spent without a smile on his face. he felt as though jeonghan deserved to always be happy, and to be given the whole world as he deserved. so he did what he could to make him happy again.

seungcheol let jeonghan know that he would retrieve some things so he had to leave for a few minutes. when he came back, he had his arms full with snacks that jeonghan loved so much. along with the snacks he carried their favorite movies.

while setting up everything, jeonghan realized something he had been denying for so long. i'm in love with my best friend. he was so afraid of what would come out of his feelings and theirs friendship. he froze in his spot, not realizing that seungcheol had been watching him the entire time.

"what is on your mind?" he heard seungcheol say.

jeonghan was frightened even more, he didn't know what to say, so he just stayed quiet a while longer, trying to come up with an excuse.

"i- im just thinking about school" he decided to use this as his excuse.

"i know that's not what is on your mind, jeonghan. you can tell me anything, nothing will change my view of you." these words gave jeonghan a large amount of relief. yet he still didn't know what to say.

but seungcheol's next words took him by surprise.

"if you won't tell me what's on your mind, then i'll tell you what's on mine."

jeonghan looked at him with a confused face.

seungcheol looked so afraid.

"i've been meaning to tell you something, it could change our friendship very drastically, but i'd rather let you know now than wait for much longer with this eating me up inside." seungcheol said with a deep breath.

"i love you, jeonghan. so very much, you are all i can think about when i wake up, or when i go to bed."

jeonghan was so shocked. he couldn't believe this was happening.

"i understand if you don't feel the same way as i do, its not something that you can accept right away without feeling something along the same lines." seungcheol was doubting himself. jeonghan could see how wrecked he seemed to be.

"cheol, i-" he didn't know how to reply. how was he supposed to react to something so sudden? something he had just discovered himself. with a mind set of trying something new, he gained some more courage. he was going to accept this and try to start a newfound relationship with his best friend.

he took a step forward towards seungcheol, who's eyes had started to tear up. he grabbed the boy by the cheek and lifted his head up slightly. with his eyes tearing as well, he told him his feelings as well.

with that, both boys leaned in for a heartfelt kiss, one filled with tears of happiness. breaking apart when neither boy could contain their smiles.

they loved every single little thing about each other, and hopefully it would be this way forever
