Disclaimer: Sadly, I do not own Percy Jackson or Harry Potter. That part belongs to Rick (TROLL) Riordan and J.K Rowling. The plot is mine though, so please don't steal it. Thanks and happy reading!😊
P.S- This is my first Wattpad story, so please comment and give advice on things to make it better. Thank you!!!
Lucy's POV
"So see you at 7 tonight?" my friend Mia asks me as she turned to go home to her house. We had just gotten off the bus from our middle school, and were planning on meeting up to study for an English test (a subject we both sucked at, with our dyslexia and ADHD and everything. School in general was hard for us) with our other friend Clara, who lived in the city because she was, well, rich. Her father was a very successful director for lots of amazhang movies. The only reason why she went to our poor public school was because she likes the country and weird stuff like that. Pretty scenery, she claims, but all I can see are lots and lots of cornfields and bean fields. I guess it's probably a breath of fresh air considering all that awful city stuff she is constantly breathing there.
"Hello-o! Earth to Lucy! Are you there?" Mia says, snapping me out of my thoughts.
Grinning, I reply, "Sorry. Just thinking. Yeah, 7 is good with me. I'll tell my dad when I get home."
She returns the smile. "Great!" she says, and then turns and skips down the sidewalk to her house.
As I watch her go, I can't help but sigh. Her house is gorgeous. Her dad is a farmer, but you couldn't tell by looking at their house. The landscaping is perfect in every detail, and the flowers and shrubs are perfect in every leaf and branch on them. You can't see it from the front, but behind the house there is a magnificent garden with all the fruits and vegetables you could imagine. Coincidentally, their last name is Rosewood, a type of tree, which fits perfectly with their love of nature.
Turning my own back on the lovely home, I wind my way down the sidewalk until it comes to a dead end. I then take a worn, narrow dirt path through the woods, across a little red wooden bridge over a creek, until I stop at a small fence about waist high with its white paint peeling and the gate barely still hanging on its hinges. Humming to myself, I gingerly open the gate and walk down the stone sidewalk to my home.
Even from a distance, it doesn't look like much. Made of a combination of stone and wood, the size of the cottage could not have been more than the size of Mia's extraordinary garden. But I don't need much. Me and my dad, I mean. My mom left soon after I was born. No explanation either, but my dad isn't angry about it. He says that they couldn't have stayed together anyway. It just wouldn't have worked out, according to him.
I never really knew much about my mom. My dad wasn't much help either. All he would say when I asked was that she was the most wonderful woman he had ever laid eyes on, and all that sappy stuff. I did once get out of him though, that she was very mysterious. Laughing, I remember him saying, "But I figured it out! No one could fool me, no matter how much magic they had in them." I had always wondered what he meant by that. He never told me.Shaking myself out of my thoughts, I take the old rusty key out of my bag that opens the door. My dad always took extra precautions. Even if he was home, the door would still be locked. I didn't ever understand this either. Something to do with my mom, I guess. Or maybe the country. Originally, my dad lived in London. That was where he met my mom. Recently, he had been muttering about his old life there in his sleep and even sometimes when he was awake. He hadn't been sleeping much either. I was worried about him. Weird things such as Umbridge and half bloods kept coming up.
I shivered. Thinking about things like this wouldn't get me anywhere. Turning the key, I opened the door, but I needn't had bothered. The door was already unlocked. Frowning, I opened the door, thinking that Dad must be home.
"Dad?" I called out as I stepped into the musty room. Directly in front of me was the kitchen, and beside me was stairs that lead up to the loft where my dad and I had our rooms. On my other side stairs led to the creepy basement that nobody dared to go into. A hallway led off to the side of the kitchen where the only bathroom in the house was.
I frown even deeper. "Dad??" I yell again, a little louder this time. I examine the room for any signs of notes or any clues he might had left that he went out. When a spot a hastily scribbled one on the counter, I sigh in relief. But as I get closer, my temporary good mood disappears. Blood is splattered nearby it, showing signs of a struggle. The note itself makes me nearly pass out with the one word it says:
London
Hi guys! So how did you like the first chapter? I'm always looking for ways to improve so don't hesitate to comment! Sorry about the cliffhanger, and the long chapter. But I'm sure some of you could guess what is going on already. Until next time,
Miss Ella😘
