Daddy always told me things would always be better in the morning. That's why it's called the "present". It's supposed to be a present from God. This is the first time he was ever wrong.
The next morning I was feeling woozy and I couldn't walk erect. My stomach felt 10 pounds heavier and my face was clammy. I was making my way to the bathroom when Tess woke up.
"Hey," she said. I said nothing. I was feeling way too sick to respond.
"Emma are you alright?"
As if on que my stomach lurched and I could feel the substances rise in my throat. I ran to the bathroom with Tess faithfully taggig along.
She held my hair once again and the pain from my stomach wasn't so horrendous. After my 30 seconds of hardcore gagging my belly did a flip flop and I was sitting on the bathroom floor rubbing it.
"Emma you have to go see the doctor!" shrieked Tess. I didn't have the energy to protest, so I gave in.

"Tess I have to tell you something..." The paper on the checkup table rustled under my weight.
"What?"
Now that we're isolated in a white cube I felt it was the perfect place to tell her.
"We can't be here right now Tess," I began. "Jonah's in trouble! We have to call the police! Like now! We need a search team to go find him- oh! I have to go tell his mom I have to-"
"Emmaline!" Tess held me by the shoulders and looked at me dead in the eyes.
"What's this about? How do you know?" she said in a calm whisper.
I swallowed hard before I answered her. "Last night.... I got these creepy text messeges..."
I showed her the messeges and she gaped in horror and concern. "Who is this?"
"To be honest, I think it's that kid..."
"What kid?"
"I know this is far fetched, but it makes sense! Remember that Constant kid I was talking about? It might be him!"
Tess paused and I can see her cogs working. "But, that's like from 10 years ago..."
"Well maybe he somehow found me or something. I mean we were talking about him last night and that's when I got those weird texts! It fits!"
"Slow down Em, how do you know it's him? By the way, what's his beef with you anyway?"
How could I tell her without revealing the monsterous truth about my father? I can't tell her.... Not now anyway...
At that moment the door opened revealing a bald man in a white coat.
"Ms. Emmaline Yorks?" he said.
"Yeah it's me..." I said weakly. He looked at me with a worried expression that covered his soft blue eyes.
"Your test results came in. It looks like your pregnant."
Pregnant..... Pregnant.....
Those words rang in my ears on the ride home. I was red in the face from crying. The whole ride home was silent. Tess didn't even speak to me. She only glanced every once in awhile.

"What are you gonna tell your mom?" asked Tess as we propped up pillows on my bed for me.
"The truth.... God I wouldn't be surprised if the first thing she did was punch me in the stomach..."
Tess chuckled at that and so did I. I rubbed my belly. Three months in. Three. How could I not have noticed? I mean all those missed periods.....
"Oh my God! Tess! We need to-" I stopped. I was gonna tell her to call the police, but I didn't know if we were being watched or not.
"Emma what now?" How could I tell her! Wait, it's 2011. We have technology, duh. I whipped out my phone and texted:POLICE! JONAH! NOW!
I didn't bother sending it to her so I showwed her on my phone. Besides, theres no way he can see that from any angle.
Tess's eyes lit up and texted back: how??
I thought for a moment.... Then I texted back: The station! He wouldn't have the balls to come near us.
He eyes lit up once again, and before I knew it we were going 50 mph on a small street.
We both remained calm and Tess was staring intently at the road in front of us. It wasn't until 10 min into the drive when I started getting the Jeepers again. I rubbed my arms and looked in the rear view mirror.
"What is it Em?" questioned Tess dangeroulsy glancing at me and not looking at the road.
"We're being followed.. -Keep your eyes one the road!!!!!" We swerved a little and Tess did as I commanded.
"Theres this blue Suberu dircetly behind us," I said. "Here switch lanes."
Just as I thought the blue Suberu switched lanes as well. I turned around in my seat and tried to see who the driver was. Then in a split second the blue car picked up speed; aiming towards our bumper.
"Tess drive faster!"
"What-"
I felt a big jolt that made me crash into the dashboard.
"What the fuck-!" Another crash.
"Drive faster Tess!!!" I shrieked. She slammed on the gas and switched over 2 lanes.
"We're almost there don't worry...." said Tess in a rather worried voice. I couldn't see the blue Suberu in behind us, so I calmed down a bit.
Wrong move.
I turned to the side and there it was. Before I could alert Tess it slammed against my door making us swerve a bit. Tess was now going 80 mph and I begged her to slow down.
"Emma this creep is trying to kill us!" she protested.
"Tess," I was down to tears. "We're gonna end up killing ourselves! Please slow down!"
She took a deep breath and slowly pushed on the brakes so we would gently come down to 50 mph. Obviously, the creep didn't expect this so he continued to zoom past us.
In about 3 min we arrived at the police station. I quickly got out of the car, but I was taken aback by the huge dent in Tess's car.
"Forget about it Emma! Let's go!"
I nodded my head and hurried to the door. I've never felt safer.
