I looked at myself in the full length mirror and narrowed my eyes suspiciously at the girl standing before me. Who was she and why the hell was she in this room. It took me a while to realize that that was me standing there, I was the one in the mirror. I winced the white dress fit my body perfectly as the attendants tried to make me look pretty. They tried my hair up, before settling on just brushing the black hair that was reaching the small of my back and swung it over my shoulders to frame my face. I just let them work, knowing their was no sense in struggling to argue. All must be dressed for a ball in the castle. I couldn't let him look bad. I sighed and the as the attendants finished me off with a pair of high heels a scarlet color. I looked at myself gulping at the strange new me. My red eyes were in sharp contrast to the snow white dressed. They brought my signature red cape around my shoulders and I just stared. They all whispered I looked beautiful, of course I didn't believe a single word they said. I just looked different, a stranger. They left me to practice walking in my heels. It was so difficult, how did the empress do this daily. I wobbled and almost fell twice. My usual graceful moves less fox-like more elephant-like. I sighed as I finally started to get the hang of it. The heels hurt my feet, not like a stabbing way, but uncomfortable and it aggravated me. I herd a knock at my door signalling the time of the ball. I took a deep breath and emurged from my room. I made my way into the grand ball room a crystal Chandler hung from the ceiling casting light around the large, golden room. The grand stair case, I had to walk down it and introduce his and her Majesty. I rolled my eyes as I slowly and carefully picked my way down the stares. My eyes went hard and my posture became that of a general. I had my head high as I reached the bottom of the stares all eyes on me. "Now introducing The Emperor Aiden and the Empress Juliet." I said loud enough for people to hear. No one really knew who I was so the eyes on me felt funny. I wasn't one for physical or even any contact with people. I turned and bowed as the couple emerged at the top of the stairs. The people followed my lead and I looked up straitening myself as everyone else did. I wondered if I'd dance an odd dance if they would follow.
I had to say, the empress was beautiful, she always was, she wore a light blue dress that hugged her body and her grown that shown in the light. Her eyes seemed a sapphire blue and it made my stomach rage with jealousy. I forced myself to ignore it and focused on her dress. When she moved it looked like a calming lake with moon shining on it. I smiled. She was honestly perfect for him. Two beautiful rulers enough to make any person swoon at the sheer thought of it. I shrugged and watched the careful to stay on guard til they have reached the bottom. I noted I had completly ignored him. Good start to tonight, no distractions. I let them move around keeping to the back of the room in the darkness watching the two, tense. There was so many people here, far to many. Men and women. It was the entire empire in one room. I laughed and tensed as I herd a voice behind me. A drunken whisper. I wiped around to a boy with ruffled hair and a bottle in his hand. The smell of alcohol on his breath was strong and it turned my stomach. I watched him as he backed away. I was glaring furiously at him as he slowly backed away and ran. I turned back to find the king right in front of me. His deep brown eyes looked at me. I looked passed him seeing his empress dancing with other men. I laughed darkly. "You want me to dance?" He nodded and held out his hand. So much for just guarding. I hesitantly took his hand and he drew me close and we slowly swayed to the music. I had to steady my breath again for the tenth time. My dress waved as he spun me. Soon it was just us and the empress and her new boy on the floor. I just stared at him shocked at how easy he made dancing seem. My breath caught as he dipped me as the song came to and end. I blinked and he smiled that winning smile. He led me back to the corner and then left me feeling starstruck. I shook off the feeling and watched him. Saddened to watch him leave.
