Richard let a few days pass before he tried calling Maine again.He knew she was upset, and this left a knot in his stomach. This made him really uncomfortable and bothered. They have been such good friends for a long time that he was not used to this side of her. Richard thinks that he reason they have stayed good friends was they had each others back. He didn't realize he has let another person come in between them.

Bottomline is : Richard missed her. Granted, he cannot mention to Ysa this, as she is already jealous of their friendship. But he was thinking that they should all get to know each other. Perhaps that would change things.

His calls and texts were unanswered. At one point, Richard sent a text to Yaya Pacing to see if Maine was home. When she replied that yes, Maine was home, he immediately decided to see her.

"Yaya, salamat po. Di nyo po sinabi na dadaan ako, tulad ng sinabi ko sa text?" Richard inquired.

"Naku hindi, kasi pag nalaman nyan baka umalis. Pag nababanggit pangalan mo, di na kumikibo eh." Yaya Pacing whispered. "kaso lang, me kasama." She points to the patio, where Maine's faint laughter can be heard. Yes, he missed her sweet laughter.

"Ha, sino naman yan?" Richard brows furrowed.

"High school classmate na nakasabay nya daw eh, si Antonio daw." Yaya Pacing looks at Richard. "Talaga bang me girlfriend ka na ha? Akala ko pa naman kayo na ni Maine ang magkakatuluyan."

Richard blushed furiously. He couldn't even answer as Yaya Pacing clucked her tongue as she left the living room. "Tawagin ko si Maine, ha?"

Richard was still left dumbfounded. Him and Maine? It was a line he never crossed. But who is this Antonio person? He racked his brain and thought hey may be one of her classmates when she was a senior. Probably the one who ran for student council and was on varsity tennis. Antonio probably goes to the University across Maine's college. It was the only connection he could think of.

"Why are you here?"

Richards thoughts were interrupted by Maine. She stood across the room - her eyes guarded and arms crossed, lips set in a thin line. There was no smile for him, and he suddenly longed to see her smile and happy. His stomach was once again in a knot.

"I miss you."

For a moment, Richard thought her eyes flickered momentarily like she missed him too, but it was gone in a second.

"I am just here. You have....other priorities now. "Maine waved her hand.

"I am sorry I hurt you. Ysa can be jealous, but I don't want her to come between us."

She already has, Maine thought. "I can't control what she thinks, Richard. I understand that. But I was your friend first." You were mine first.

Richard walks towards Maine and hugs her, completely throwing her off. She stands completely paralyzed. They have hugged in the past, but this time she was overwhelmed with her own emotions. She was about to hug him back, until someone cleared his throat. She jumped back and saw Antonio looking at them curiously.

"Uhm, Maine, una na ako. I'll see you tomorrow?"

"Yes, pick me up at 9am so we can grab breakfast. And thanks for the ride."

"Sure. Sige, pare." Antonio nods to Richard, who does nothing but raise his eyebrows as acknowledgment.

Maine walks over and opens the door for Antonio, and holds his arm. "Thanks again!" Richard does not miss the gesture, and it made him a bit uncomfortable. He sits on the couch as Maine closes the door. She ends up just standing , wrapping her arms around her. Seeing Richard jarred her, and this confused her even more.

"I kind of have a lot of work to do, Richard. Me quiz ako sa Gen Psych tomorrow. Maybe we'll talk soon? I'm sure Ysa will be looking for you na din. "

Richard stands up, not quite sure was going on, but he new it was his cue to leave. He looks at Maine, who can't seem to look him in the eye. "I'll call you, okay, Maine?"

She looks at him and nods. Richard walks out and reached for his keys. He was already driving for 10 minutes when he realized something.

Maine stopped calling him Kuya.

This update completely came out of left field that @Innamarie24 has no idea where it came from. LOL . Sarreh ! Kahit ako di ko na expect to so let's see where this takes us.
