Month One.
Jude never really changed her mannerisms, she just seemed to breathe more indifferently. More rapid I could say ,a few weeks into the pregnancy I noticed. I usually laid my head in her lap more often after that, nuzzling her stomach and giving it light kisses. I know that our baby wasn't really an actual baby or fetus yet, but still... I've been waiting a long time for this to happen, to be a father..
Our neighbors moved out, they live somewhere else now. They also go a divorce, depressing hearing them fight for that long drawn out week. But Jude and I didn't really mind it cause we saw it coming, plus we started to slowly fade away from them..
"Love, are you okay..? You seem unsettled..." Jude said with a weak, but worried smile. I looked up at her sitting myself up from her lap brushing her hair behind her ear. "Im fine darling, I was thinking about.. what's been happening lately that's all." She nodded pushing herself to the edge of the bed, dangling her legs over the edge looking down at the floor.
She looked, unhappy I would say. I grabbed her shoulder sitting myself next to her, lifting her chin up with my finger from my other hand. "Leon.. What are we going to do... You know we don't have enough money to get all the baby things that we need, so why keep it...?" She said trailing it with a light sigh. I got off the bed and stood up in front of her gently grabbing her shoulders shaking them. "Jude, I know we don't have much money now for our child.. But eventually we will, like for now since my dad is letting me take work off, ill be going back to it soon raking in all of the money for our son or daughter.. Just have happy thoughts for now, cause in a couple of months, you're going to be the best mother on earth. Do you hear me? The best."
She pushed my hands off her shoulders wrapping her arms around my waist hugging me tight. "Okay.. I understand and hear you." I smiled brightly twirling her hair in my fingers nodding pulling her up from our bed, moving her arms around my neck. I started humming a light tune, placing my hands on her waist swaying slowly with her feet on mine guiding them with mine. She giggled, lifting her head up kissing my cheek. I just kept up with our feet, toning it down slightly, I then started singing a very light song, she loved our song, we've always sung it to one another to make us happier or so.
It soon came to a stop when my phone rang in the other room, I kissed Jude as I left her in our room, walking into our living room, it was Dorian. "Why the hell does this kid have to call..? Does he need some kind of help or something?" I though to myself as I answered. On the other end all I heard was screaming, it also kept cutting out but as soon as I was bout to hang up he spoke, "Leon! I need some help, can you come over to the underlands for a bit..?" He said with a dreaded and worried tone of voice. I groaned and told him yes.
I informed Jude id be gone for most of the day, maybe even stay in the underlands till nightfall, she was fine with it and said she may be asleep by the time ill be home. As I got my scythe, lifting it above my head slamming it into out floor cracking it open, opening the portal to the underworld. I jumped in, and when I hit the ground it made some cracks into the area of land I landed on.
Eventually I got to Dorian's home sweet home and knocked briefly on the door, he opened the door very quickly his eyes lighting up with reassurance. I just face palmed myself waking in, but before I could direct myself to his sitting room he blocked my path stretching out his appendages till they could touch the walls. "Leon.. I... I broke my death scythe.. Well, I didn't exactly break it! I-" Before I could let him finish his sentence I kicked him in his chest knocking him out of my way casually walking to his sitting room.
It was.. Such... a horrific mess of tools and instruments of fixatives of glue, powders, spell books and everything else you could imagine a reaper would have. I picked up the small scythe and the blade aswell, walking out of the mess and over the dumbass, taking the broken object of order and complete chaos to the heads of the department of making the death scythes.
"I looks like it'll take about a week or two to fix up, but I think we can do it. Who's scythe is this..?" said the black smith with a confused expression. "Dorian Willis. He's a new reaper, he wanted me to fix it at first but I took it into my own hands and brought the pewny object to you my good sir." He nodded and thanked me for being such a gentalman.
I opened the portal again as I walked out of the shop, going back home to my wife and soon-to-be child. Jude predicted the future, she was asleep on the couch and it was about 12:15 a.m.
I picked her up bridal style taking her to our bedroom laying on out bed pulling the blankets over her. I undressed till I was in my boxer shorts, crawling into the bed next to Jude, wrapping my arms around her waist pulling her close to me. I closed my eyes and lightly chuckled to myself, slowly fading into a very deep and comfortable sleep.
For the rest of the month, it more or less was the same, my newly founded "apprentice" calling me for help every other day then on the others days when I was free, Jude and I went looking at toys and other baby things and on occasion we'd end the night, very.. Naughtily. Even so, this month wasn't too stressful as I thought it would be....
