The street was a long runway of blood and close death. I couldn't help breaking the long silence.
"So... where do we go after Vani's house?" My eyes didn't move from that long, endless road.
"Mine is the next closest..." Elizabeth answered. " Ashley's house is last."
"Where do we go after this?" Vani dared.
"There is no 'after this'... this is life now." Elizabeth faced the ground speaking in whispered monotone.
"Hey, don't think like that. There is always a way to return to regular life-" She cut me off.
"You shit heads don't get it do you? Haven't you seen the movies?! There is no past and no future! This is it!! So don't be crying when you see the occasional dead body on the treet, even if its your mother or father, or friend, or feakin' girlfriend! You have to be tough or you die! Now, Lets hurry up or were all gonna die!" She stomped away toward the turn of the sidewalk.
"Ahh! Help!!" We heard a scream. We thought it was her, but when we got to the corner we saw a little girl backing up on the sidewalk, with Elizabeth raising her bat over her.
"What the hell?!! What are you doing?!!" We ran over to her, tackling her right before she was about to smash the little girl in.
"She has things we need! Kill her! Kill her!!" Elizabeth screamed.
"What are you doing?!! She might be hurt!" Vani looked at her crazily.
"Mommy?! Mommy, help!!" The little girl screamed. She ran off into the neighborhood, disappearing.
"Elizabeth?!!! Is your freakin' head screwed on backwards?!" I yelled at her.
"Look! She left some medicine! Get it!" She crawled over and grabbed it.
"Your going crazy! Stay calm!" Vani shook her.
She looked like she had just caught reality. "I'm... I'm sorry... I... I lost control..." Her eyes were focused on one rock lying on the street.
"Ok, now that you got your shit together, lets get the hell out of here." Ashley exclaimed. We ran to Vani's house. We weren't stopped anymore, and we got to his house in no time.
"Ok, me and Julian will go in, and you two stay here." Vani signaled. We snuck into the house and searched it.
"Not in the kitchen," I said.
"Not in the bedroom." He told me. I tip-toed into Vani's room, where two figures stood, with many dead bodies lying on the floor. They turned around, showing their faces. it was his parents, covered in blood, with fierce looks on their faces.
"hello, Julian. Wheres Vani?" Vani's dad asked me.
"Mom! Dad!" Vani ran to hug his parents. The blood from his shirt mixed with the blood from their shirts.
"Guys, come on! We need to get out of here!" He told them, motioning to the door.
"Where are we going?!" They asked.
"Where going to my friend Elizabeth's house to find her parents." He answered, when footsteps entered through the doors.
"Parent..." It was Elizabeth's voice. Her (apparently) father walked through the doors, with one arm rapped up in fabric.
"What do you mean?" I asked.
"My mom and brother are dead. My dad and little sister are the only ones that survived." She said, sadly.
"Oh, its okay." Vani's mom comforted her.
"It's okay, I mean, my brother didn't really matter..." dozens of tears ran down her face.
