Under - III
I'M AT THE beach again. This time, the water is different. It's not bright blue, and there are no vivid colors. The water is washing up elegantly on the shore. The sky's dark, the sun long gone. It has disappeared, resting somewhere far away. Maybe in another world. In another world far away where there are no ill, poor, unhappy or blind people. My feet are wet. I'm standing in the water, but that's not what stuns me. Usually, I'm not stunned nor amazed so easily but this, this is amazing. The beach is enchanting. It's glowing. Small lights are in the water, like fireflies. Like stars. They're moving gracefully in the water, making it glow magically. They're the souls of the stars, they're taking a break from being in air, in space, weightless.
Bioluminescent Ostracod Crustaceans, I realize. We had about it in biology before my accident. It's a beach in the Maldives, with glowing water. Or rather, glowing organisms. I am stunned in my place, but I realize that I'm free. I can see. It's all right there, in front of me.
I run, as fast as I can. The wind is whipping in my hair and I'm reckless. My lungs are burning, I'm gasping for air, but I keep running. Running and running and running. I leap from the ground, floating, no, flying. The stars are under and over me, they surround me. I'm engulfed by them, but I don't mind. I am free. I am under and I feel amazing. I am under, I am under, I am under...
