Right Out of Middle School

You Didn't Tell Me!

   Few days later Michelle's pov

    I was at home doing my stupid math homework because my math teacher gives us homework everyday! I was on problem 6 when my phone ringed.

    From Laila

 Hey Michelle! Did you here the new rumor going around?

 I was never really in to gossip, I'm still not, but I went along with it.

    From Michelle

 No. What's going on now.

   From Laila

Amara and Lenora are dating! Can you believe it? This stuff never happened at our old school!

   I almost dropped my phone. Amara and I had become very close in the past few days. We shared everything. Even our darkest secrets. She had never told me she was a lesbian. Lenora too! We grew up together and she never told me anything...

   From Michelle

I didn't know that, thanks for telling me though. I will talk to Amara tommorrow. Bye

   I didn't wait for her to respond back, I threw my phone at the wall. I was ticked off! They told me nothing! And they were my best friends! I finally calmed down, took a relaxing shower and then climbed into my bed and feel asleep. The next day I got on a cute outfit that consisted of black skinny jeans, a white t-shirt and a red and black jacket. I breezed through the first couple of classes as always and headed to math class. Once I got there I saw Lenora an Amara copying down the lesson on some paper. I grabbed my notebook and sat down beside them and started copying down as well. I decided to ease the question into them to see if the rumors were true.

   " So there is a rumor going around that you two are dating." I said hoping they would be honest with me. The looked at each other and then to me and back to each other. 

   " No we aren't!" They said in unison. They are so lying I said to myself. Why would they lie to me? The rest of the class I could hear Lenora and Amara talked and giggling the whole time. I got no notes for the class as I was distracted by them. Once we got our homework I was lost... I asked for help from everyone but they didn't understand it eather. They were lying because they went right back to there work,answering question after question with ease. I saw Lenora working so I asked her.

   " Hey, I don't understand this, can you help me?" I said in a whispered tone. She looked up at me with a smile that said " I don't want to get into any trouble " I nodded and tryed my best to finish the problems to no avail. My mind was clouded my by the fact that they lied to me... Once class was over I ran out of the room to my locker. Amara came up to me,worry flashed through her face.

   " What's wrong Michelle?" She asked. I just looked at her.

   " Why would you lie to me?" I said. She looked at me with sorrow visible in her eyes.

   " I want too. But.." She didn't get to finish as I ran out the door and to the parking lot. My aunt looked at me seeing the tears in my eyes. 

   " What's wrong?"

   " I fell on the ground, I'm ok." I said, she looked like she didn't believe me, but started the truck up anyways. I felt betrayed as we went out of the parking lot. The same question was burning in the back of my mind.

                            Why didn't they tell me?
