"I'm just going to call Owen and check on Harper." I said.
"Oh no you don't!" my Mom said, "you'll feel even worse if you do!"
"Yeah, come on Rose. Get changed, have some champagne and let's go out." Maria agreed.
"But I just need to-"
"No!"
"I only want to-"
"Stop! She's in her fathers... capable hands," Claire teased, "no seriously, she's going to be fine, let's have a good time. You've just bought a beautiful wedding dress, it's time to celebrate!"
To say we celebrated was an understatement. After having a quiet meal at an understated restaurant, Maria took us to a bar on request of my Mom. Claire was on the orange juice, but we sipped cocktails, and I found it hard to keep up with the amount my Mom and Maria were drinking. I drank until I got a little tipsy myself, but I glanced at Claire halfway through the night and she gave me a look as to say 'don't get drunk and leave me to carry you all home'. So, I stopped drinking, but it didn't stop me having fun, as Maria and my Mom together whilst being intoxicated was hilarious.
Claire and I eventually got them back to our hotel, and then as Claire and I shared one bed and they shared the other, it was funny just talking to them until the early hours as we tried to put the world to rights.
The next day they slept until midday and Claire and I had packed everything up whilst they were still dead to the world. Eventually, the hotel manager came banging on the door to say we had to check out in ten minutes and we had no choice but the wake them up.
"Jesus Christ, I haven't felt this hungover in years." Maria groaned as she slid on her sunglasses.
"I think the last time I felt like this was the morning after my wedding." my Mom laughed suggestively and Maria spluttered with laughter. I was so happy they were getting on.
"Ew Mom, stop!" I groaned, "I don't what to imagine you and Steve thank you very much."
Before we could get on the boat to Isla Nublar, Claire and I had to drop off Maria at home and my Mom at the airport, but we finally made it back to the island and Barry, Owen and Harper were all waiting at the dock for us. Once I saw them I sprinted to them, dropping my bag to the side and flinging my arms around Owen's neck. He hugged me tightly and chuckled down my ear.
"Missed me?" he asked when I let go.
"I missed my baby more!" I pouted, bending down to the buggy where Harper was sitting all in one piece, thank God.
"Hey!" Owen said, "anyway, see?! She's alive! I did it!" I unstrapped her from the buggy and picked her up and she smiled happily.
"I'm so proud of you babe." I smiled at him, "I have missed you a lot."
"I knew you had!" he laughed, "let's get home shall we? Harper has made a lovely mess of all her toys in the living room that she specifically told me she wanted mommy to see!"
"Doesn't mean mommy's cleaning it!" I smirked.
"Owen, come on, we're going to be late!" I called from the front door where I was strapping Harper into her buggy.
"Chill babe, we're the ones paying them, they can wait for us!" Owen laughed, walking into the room and kissing me on the cheek.
"I know, I know, but we need to drop Harper with Claire first!" I replied. Owen and I were about to go cake testing for the wedding cake. We weren't running late but I wanted to be prompt, so Owen took the pram and I locked the door. They were caterers that did special events for Jurassic World sometimes, so they were based on site and luckily it wasn't a long walk.
"I'm still going to refuse to taste any until I get at least one clue about your dress." Owen smirked, pushing Harper along the pavement.
"Well I guess I'll be making all the decisions then." I retorted. Owen had been desperate to see my dress and I had to make a new elaborate password on my phone so he didn't go on and see the photos my Mom had taken.
"Oh come on baby, just one clue!" he whined.
"Fine... Just one clue alright?!"
"Yay! I promise I'll be good." he said, "or bad, depends on what mood you're in." he raised his eyebrows suggestively and I hit him playfully. We were out of the quiet retreat of our bungalow area now and were making our way into the main park where it was hot and busy. Harper awoke in the pram and I winced as I waited for her to cry, but she entertained herself trying to grab onto her feet.
"Okay then, here it goes... It's white." I laughed.
"Well I guessed that!" Owen whined, "come on Rosie, give me a proper clue!"
"Nuh-uh, she's not giving anything anyway." a different voice from the crowd said. I looked around and then Claire came out of nowhere. She had weaved her way through the crowd and was now walking in time with us on the other side of the buggy.
"Hey you! How are you feeling?" I asked her, knowing she had really been feeling the morning sickness.
"Better today, still not a hundred per cent. Anyway, is Harper ready to come to Aunty Claire's?!" she replied, stopping us as she bent over the pram. I watched as her hand came and rested itself over her small baby bump protectively and I smiled.
"I know that mommy is more than ready!" I laughed, "everything she should need is in the bag in the basket at the bottom of the buggy. Call me if you need anything."
"We're going to be fine, aren't we little baby?!" Claire spoke in a baby voice to Harper and she gurgled delightedly.
"Are you sure you're alright babysitting on your afternoon off?!" I asked.
"Honestly, it's absolutely fine. I'm going to need to practise aren't I?" she smiled, "you two go and have fun, and if you want to go and do something afterwards, then that's fine by me."
"Okay then, as long as you're sure. Harper, say bye to mommy and daddy." I leaned down and kissed her little head and said goodbye to her, and then it was Owen's turn, and before we knew it, we were childless and walking hand in hand through the crowds.
"I miss her already." Owen sighed as we walked into the catering place.
"Me too, but we need some us time, I've missed that more." I said and he agreed.
"Rosie, Owen! So good to see you again! I've got your samples, if you'd like to come on through!" Mark, the friendly chef said to us.
We walked on through and it was cake heaven, it smelt heavenly.
"I've got chocolate, red velvet, vanilla, amaretto, coffee, carrot and fruit. Feel fry to try as much as you want from each sample and let me know."
We ended up going for red velvet for the bottom tier which was the largest as it was both of our favourites. Then for the second tier, we chose vanilla and the top layer we chose chocolate.
"God, I'm so full!" I moaned as we walked out of the shop.
"I haven't heard you say that for a while!" Owen smirked, wrapping his arm around my waist, "listen, let's go back home, I've missed you and I want you so bad." he murmured into my ear. My heart sped up and I bit my lip.
"Really? Well, what exactly did you have in mind?" I replied in the same tone.
"Well Claire has Harper taken care of so I thought we could have amazing sex in many different positions all afternoon to burn off all those calories. Sound good?"
"Sounds perfect." I giggled and turned to kiss him.
I was the luckiest girl in the world.
