"You're so lucky that you get to live here year round. Maryland is so boring compared to this place. Man, I'd kill for a beach back home." I gushed.
"It's not that cool as it seems. There's nothing really to do in the winter," Johnny added. "but in the summer it's really cool. I'll have to admit."
Brennan, Johnny, Alex, and I strolled down the the beach. I gripped my skateboard in my hands and glanced at the beautiful beach just ahead of us. A bunch of kids were on the beach surrounding a bunch of sticks lit on fire. Johnny introduced us to a several kids he knew.
"And those two are Brennan and Annie," Johnny introduced the two of us and I waved to them.
"The girl's kinda hot," A boy out of no where said, I gave them a death stare.
"Shut your mouth before I snap your leg in half." I snarled.
"Don't mind him Annie. That's Luke. He's a little, how can I say this, f-boyish?" Alex shrugged her shoulders and found a seat.
Brennan followed me wherever I went since he is a little shy around new people or anyone in general. The only one he could open up to was me and I guess I could say the same about myself.
"So are you guys new in town?" A boy with blonde hair questioned, biting his lip.
"What's it to you blondie?" I crossed my arms.
"Annie he's only asking a simple question." Brennan nudged me.
"I don't do simple questions. Next time you wanna know something, why don't you ask somebody who cares." I spat.
The whole group of people were laughing. "Dude she's got a mouth on her." I heard a guy laugh, totally embarrassing the blonde boy.
A red headed girl joined them. "She totally just told you off."
"Straight savage man," Johnny looked at me, chuckling a little. "If I ever need backup in a fight, I know who to call."
"You sure do," I winked at him. "except my parents would kill me but that's not the point I think we're getting at."
Brennan stared at the ground, not paying attention to our conversation. "What's up with you Brennan?" I queried, he put his hand on cheek.
"Nothing," He paused. "I'm fine."
I was slowly losing track of time and I knew my dad would kill me if I didn't get back at the house before curfew but I simply didn't care. This bonfire was fun. "Alex do you know what time it is?" I furrowed my eyebrows.
Alex whipped out her phone from her pocket and clicked it on. "Eleven fifty, Annie."
"Crap," I shot up from where I was sitting. "Brennan we gotta go."
"Okay," He got up from his seat and started following me. "I'm coming."
Johnny and Alex stopped me before I could leave. "Wait you guys, we never got your number. We have to hang out sometime." Johnny smiled.
"Here," I handed them both my phone. "put your numbers in and I'll call you if I feel like it."
"Seems fair," Alex waited for Johnny to finish typing in his number. "hurry up Johnny, they gotta get home."
"There," Said Johnny, handing my phone over to Alex who typed it in a lot faster. "see you guys later."
"Nice meeting you two," Alex beamed. "You guys are a lot cooler than these weirdos. Bye."
Brennan waved goodbye and we darted to the boardwalk. I placed my skateboard on the wooden planks and pushed off as fast as I could. Brennan rode exactly beside me and we only had three minutes to get home.
"We're dead meat," Brennan frowned. "Will your dad be angry?"
"At me yeah," I dragged my foot against the wood. "not you. You're not his kid. Our sisters are probably asleep and your brother is probably drooling over Hayley."
"True." Brennan started to gradually get faster.
We eventually made it home and I crept up the porch. Brennan slowly opened the door and I hoped to sneak in, but my dad was sitting right there on the couch.
"You're late," My dad got mad, it was evident on his face. "You guys had me scared to death."
"Don't you think I know that? Tell me something I don't know would ya'?" I grabbed Brennan by the wrist and walked away from him.
"You will not speak to me that way." My dad sternly said and I groaned.
"I'll talk to you the way I want to talk to you. Deal? Deal." I shouted and that was all I said before running upstairs.
