My only option was to go home. There wasn't much to it and my new friends were working on some top secret plan. I didn't want to see Brennan at all and it pretty much became a routine for me. My dad sat at the table reading a newspaper while taking a sip of his cup of coffee.
"Oh hi Annie," He looked up from his paper and glanced at me then shifted his eyes back down. "I thought you were out?"
"I was but it was boring," I paused for a few seconds. "Have you seen Brennan?"
My dad nodded his head and told me he went out. My sister Hayley came running down the stairs with Katie and her little brother Ryan just behind her. Hayley did not want to be around Ryan at all because when I see it from her perspective, it would be awkward for me too. The two girls begged my dad to take them to the local mall and being the person that he is, he couldn't say no. Ryan was just a little tag along since he couldn't be left home alone.
I pushed that out of my head and went upstairs, walking into my bedroom. I climbed up the small ladder attached to the side of the bunk and laid down. I was kinda annoyed how Johnny and Alex wouldn't tell me what their so called plan was. It was supposed to help me so what's he secret and why can't I know?
From Alex, 11:22pm
Hey Anns! Meet me at the pier like right now please xoI exhaled then took a deep breath. It was only about an hour since I left them. How did they figure this out all of a sudden?
To Alex, 11:23pm
Okay I will. See ya later.I shut of my phone and hopped down from the bed. Pushing my phone into my front pocket, I scuffed out of the room. Although I was desperate to see what they came up with, I got a feeling that maybe something could go wrong.
My dad already left with my sister and Brennan's siblings. He'd drive all around town or maybe even to Alaska if Hayley asked. The man would tell me no for everything and it would just be me getting the short end of the stick.
I flung open the front door and ran to the pier. The pier wasn't far from my dad's beach house. It was right up the boardwalk and if you keep going and make a left, the pier went out to shallow waters. It was a sight to see and really cool if you got to see it when the sun set.
I eventually made my way to pier, passing a few people on their bikes or mom's with strollers full of their babies. I didn't see Alex or Johnny anywhere only a boy with a girl in the distance. Investigating, I kept walking but in a slow manner. Then I realized that Brennan was the boy and the girl was not someone I knew.
The girl had long blonde hair that were curled loosely and her clothes were nice to be honest. It was a white summer dress that any girl like her would wear. She was ten times better than me when it came to looks but that doesn't really matter at all. I could probably put her in a headlock in two minutes but she won the game of looks, I'll give her that.
As I got closer, I heard their little conversation. "It's really nice to meet you Brennan. I'm Vanessa," The girl introduced herself as Brennan's lips pulled into a smile and this time, it was not fake.
"I love your name Vanessa," Brennan complimented and Vanessa's once white cheeks turned a hint of pink.
"Thanks, you too," She returned the compliment. I could feel the urge to gag right in front of them but I held it back just for their sake. Vanessa seemed a little forward with people, a lot more than Alex. She intertwined her and Brennan's fingers and stared into his eyes. She couldn't possibly be doing that right now.
"And what do you think you're doing?" I stepped in, asking the blonde who's face looked confused. Brennan can't be forced to hold hands with someone, he needs time to trust people. I knew more about Brennan than this bimbo did.
"Annie what are you doing here?" Brennan asked shyly, staring down to his feet. I didn't answer him because I didn't want to.
"Doesn't it look completely obvious? I'm holding his hands. And you are?" Vanessa gave a prissy smile with her nose held high. I wanted to bend her arm in half by the time I got to her.
"I'm Annie and maybe you might want to watch the attitude before you know, I break one of your bones?" I clenched my teeth and watched as the girl's once sophisticated smile dropped into a state of anger.
"Please," Vanessa chuckled. "You're over reacting." She untangled her fingers from Brennan's and planted a kiss on his cheek. Brennan blushed and I felt the anger rise inside of me.
"You're getting it now," I charged at Vanessa and tackled her to the ground. I had her on the ground with her stomach facing the surface of the pier. I brought her right arm right behind her back and watched as she struggled to get free.
"Annie stop it!" Brennan came rushing over and tried to get me off of her but he couldn't.
"Stay away from my," I froze. I didn't know what to say but my mouth spoke randomly. "boyfriend. Stay away from my boyfriend! You hear me?"
"Okay! Okay! Let me go," The girl stood up after I got off of her back. She made a beeline to the normal boardwalk, running as fast as she could from me.
"Annie, I'm your boyfriend?" He raised his eyebrow and then his cheeks turned red. "Are you being for real or did you just say that because you were jealous and can't resist me?" He joked with me for once even when he knew I was not in the mood.
"Oh yes Brennan Donnelly, I'm completely obsessed with you. I can't ever resist your hotness! It kills me inside!" I replied sarcastically causing him laugh. "But yeah Brennan, I missed having you as my best friend. It's really hard trying to avoid someone you know you can't."
"So we're still friends?"
"Can't you ever keep up?" I rolled my eyes. "But we can be friends only if you want to."
"I don't want to be friends but I do know what I would want to be," Brennan nudged me. "You know I'd be really honored to be your boyfriend."
"Then that's what we'll be," I couldn't believe the words coming out of my mouth. This was so awkward for me yet I enjoyed it at the same time. I had feelings for Brennan all along and I wish I had admitted it before.
Brennan was my boyfriend and I was his girlfriend, but hopefully it would last.
