I don't know what to say "you, you want to take me to prom?" I stutter
He nods and bites his bottom lip "look, you're gorgeous okay?"
I can't stop myself from smiling "okay." I agree, pushing a strand of hair out of my eyes. Matty kisses me on the cheek and goes back along the street we just came from. I stand there in the middle of the street for a few minuets, completely shocked with what just happened.
People are walking around me, getting on with their lives and I'm still unable to move. A grin finds its way onto my face and I can't stop smiling I take a left from the street and walk along the river bank.
No one is here at this part of town, the sun is setting and most people are either in central or have gone home by now. I take a seat on a nearby bench and watch the ducks mess about on the water. I light another cigarette and the smoke spirals out of my mouth, dancing about in the sky until it disappears completely.
It must be about 8pm by now, my stomach growls and I sigh deciding it's time to go back home.
It takes me just under an hour to walk home and it's pitch black when I reach the front door. "Mum?" I call into the dark hallway. I sigh, leaving my shoes by the front door.
She's never home. I fumble around in the kitchen to find the light switch, I fill up a glass with water and head to my bedroom, ready to have a bath. My phone beeps telling me I have a message.
I pick it up and I have a load of notifications from the group chat I have with my mum, uncle, cousin and grandma.

Laura: has anyone spoken to Ina recently?
Ellie: nah
G'ma P: no dear, have you tried ringing her?
8:45pm
Ina: hi lol
Dean: where's your mum?
Ina: idk I think she might have an interview in London later but she said she's going out for drinks with Taylor
Dean: ooooh are they dating now then?
Ina: no idea, she doesn't tell me anything
Laura: no.
Ina: oh hi mother thanks for telling me where u are
Laura: I'll be home later, I have an interview. Should be back around 12
Dean: is it your prom tomorrow Ina?
Ellie: what's your dress like??!
Ina: yup. I have a date ;)
Ina: it's dark blue, El x
Ellie: sexy!!!!! Who?!
Laura: wtf! Who?
Dean: pulled !!!
Ina: lmao, it's really awkward :////

Ina: well I met their lead singer, Matty, today
Ellie: and...
Ina: I'm going to prom wITH MATTY HEALY

I laugh, shaking my head. My family are ridiculous. I haven't even told my friends yet about going to prom with Matty. Coincidentally my best friend, Lyra, starts messaging our group chat.

I roll my eyes and decide to have a bath in the morning. I pull my laptop out from under my bed and log into Netflix. Orange is the new black comes up in my suggestions box and I accidentally click it. My mums face pops up on my screen and I'm too lazy to move and turn it off so I continue to watch the show. Cringing every time my mum and her best friend have a scene together.
