Chapter 9

"I can't believe he only had one vial," I said as I leaned on the wall next to Kiki. "Thank you." "For what, Shirayuki," Zen said the the kneeling Shirayuki. "Because you saved me from danger Zen. But I'm sorry. It would seem that I'm only poisonous to you."

"Is that supposed to be a joke? Because I was poisoned by an apple? And you're as red as one? Is that what you mean?"

Let her answer before you ask so many questions, ya idiot.

"No not really." "Don't worry. It's not something for what you need to apologize for. Zen made the choice to eat the apple himself, but we all should have been a lot more careful about it. That's all. Although, Mitsuhide carried on like the end of the world was here and started to weep like a child."

Kiki's arms were crossed and Mitsuhide was looking at her with a nervous expression. "Hey, shut up Kiki!" "So tragic." "Ok, ok! Next time I get fruit, I'll have Mitsuhide test it out before I eat it," Zen said with a smile. "Uh, what's that now?" Zen laughed and looked back at Shirayuki, walking to her.

"Shirayuki. Do you remember what I said to you in the forest? I meant every word. And I truly hope your hope brought us together for something good. We both happen to be in the same place at the same time for very different reasons and we saved each other. Maybe poison isn't always bad. Maybe our meeting wasn't a fluke but instead the beginning of a new chapter. i guess it's up to you now." "Is that true? I can choose my fate for myself?"

"Have you all forgotten that I'm here too?," I interjected. Mitsuhide jumped back and practically screamed, "When did you get here?!?" I scowled. "I teleported here a second ago and I have come to take all your souls," I said sarcastically. Zen laughed and looked at me. "I've been meaning to ask you something."

"Shoot." "You're Akemi?" "Last time I checked, yes." "Where were you all these years?" "I've been visiting Clarines every so often to check up on y'all." "You have?! When?!"

I laughed and looked at Kiki. "She's noticed. I always had this wig that I wore every time I visited. I even talked to you." We laughed for a bit.

"Why did I decide to come back again?," I asked Shirayuki. "Because you're a good friend and want to protect me?" I scoffed but didn't reply. "Anyhow! I'm going to go find a job here! Wanna come with?" I shook my head.

"Sorry. I'm going to go to the Sauron castle. 2 years without communication probably made my mom really worried about me. " Shirayuki nods and heads off. I pulled the hood of my cloak off my head and, instead of my sword, got out my bow and several arrows. Running through the small forest near the kingdom, I made my way to the castle. It pays to have memorized all these shortcuts.

An elderly lady stopped me about halfway through. "Princess! It's been so long since I last saw you! 2 and a half years! Oh dear! I almost forgot! Queen Hana told me that if I ever saw you, I'd have to tell you that she's now living in the Clarines castle!"I recognized her as one of the people that helped me 'escape' when I was a child.

Tightly hugging her, I said, "Thanks, Ms. Lunmear! Have a nice day!" I waved ' Good Bye' and went on my way again. The weather is so nice today. The sun is shining. the wind is steady. Oh look at that! It's a cloud with a body and a red cloud with a body too! Wait wat?

Shirayuki and Zen were talking outside the gates. I have this strange feeling that Zen snuck out...yeah! That sounds like him! "Prince Zen! Where are you?!" Annnnd cue the running. Ugh, i wanna take a run, too. "Miss? Do you need something?" I looked at the guards. "Um. Yes, actually. Have you seen Queen Hana anywhere?" The guards looked to each other then looked at me.

"Do you happen to be Akemi?" I nodded my head as they both bowed down. "Please excuse us for being so rude!" I backed up a little from fear. Is everyone like this?! They didn't even do anything. Ehhhhh. I wanna go home! Oh wait...this is home.

"Um. It's quite alright. Can you please open the gates though?" The guards got up and complied to my request. I shivered as I went past them. "Akemi?", I heard a soft voice say. I turned to the left, towards the voice. I smiled brightly as I said, "Hello, Mother!"

She ran up to me and squeezed me in to a hug. "Oh, my baby! I need to know everything that's been going on in the past 2 years! You've grown so much! Do you have  a boyfriend?! What's your job?! Has everyone been nice to you?! Are you hur-?!" I interrupted my mom before she could go on a full out examination of me. "Mom! I'm fine! I'll tell you everything! I just have to check up on my friend afterwards!"

After telling my dear mother all that happened, she had started to tell me what had happened in Clarines and Sauron during the time that I was gone. After that, she had shoved me off to the docks to check on Shirayuki.

She said, and I quote, "You have to thank your friend for me! Make sure she's okay and bring her back so I can meet the girl that helped my little girl!" I laughed and waved to her, swinging the space between my bow and string through my arm.

"I'll go find her, Mother. You, however, have to go back into the castle. There are bandits that can climb the wall, ya know." Mother nodded at me and I ran through the woods and in the direction of the ocean.

Knowing my friend, she probably went out to explore. When I finally reached the boats, I spotted Zen. He was pulling out part of his sword from his scabbard and was glaring at two male citizens. Ah, so I was right...wait what?! If Zen is here, then is Shirayuki alone?!

"ZEN!" "Oh, hey Akemi." "Don't 'hey' me! You let Shirayuki go exploring by herself?!" I didn't hear his answer, because I was jumping onto the surface of the water. I signaled some birds that I had 'known' for a while and they flew in the direction of the boat with me running. Sometimes, it pays to invent shoes that float and balance on water.
