"I just know one when I see one. I'm a too. It's like I can't do anything right, sometimes in my parents eyes. I have three other brothers. So, I never measure up to Kevin, he is the oldest. He is the first to do ever thing you know like getting married. Moving away, from here. I always, come second to him. Then there is Nick, who is just too smart. So, I'm never am good in school. I have too work hard for my grades. Nick he just looks at something then he learns it. Then there is Frankie who is the baby. He can never do any wrong in my parents eyes. Nick too, he can never do any wrong. I screw up, and then..."
"Then it all starts. Well, your sister did this. You sister is so good. Why can't you be more like them. You can't do, that cause your younger sister looks up to you. Take your sister here and there. You need to look after them. I know the story, all too well. I...."Demi said, as her eyes got this sad look in them. Joe step forward to her, he put his hand on her arm and pulled her to the booth. Demi could feel like heat, where his hand was touching her arm. She followed him, he guided her to sit in booth. He sat across from her. "Yes, I know that always happens to me too. Oh, to answer your question you asked earlier. My girlfriend she doesn't care that those old ladies try to set me up." He said.
Demi nodded her head as she tried to smile. Joe smiled, then she frowned a bit. "What?" Joe laughed a bit. "I don't have a girlfriend. I just haven't found the right girl yet. Plus, most of the girls I bring home to meet my parents they don't approve of. I usually like to bring home...um how do I put this. Um....well what I mean. I like to bring home girls that I know my parents will not like cause I know that it will bug them. " He said, as she nodded her head. "I get it, you do that so they will notice you. I mean so that you will have some attention. I use to do that too. Most parents are always focused on the older child and the younger one. Basically You are left alone. Except for when you screw up. Then they are on your case to do this and that. You get the full extend of their wrath. My parents would get on my case about the guys that I date. But.......never mind." She said, as she looked down at her hands. That were on the table.
Joe, did something that never does. He was never the type of guy to show how he feels. Especially to girls. But there was just something about Demi. He just met her, but yet he felt that he had known her for ever. He could tell that she was in pain. She seem kind of lonely, sad and broken. He reached over and took her hand in his. Then he lifted up her face so that she was looking at him. Her face was soft to the touch. He felt her take a deep breath in. He focused his on hers. Tears, were building up in her eyes. He could tell that she was trying to hold them back. "Let them out Demi. It's okay to cry. I heard that it is good for the soul. Now just let it all go." he said, in the gentle voice. He felt her take another breath in. She loved the sound of his voice. There was just something in his voice that made her feel again. She had felt much in the past few months. Then it was like a dam broke.
She began to cry. It broke his heart to see her like that. He moved out of the booth, but he still held her hand. He moved so that he sat beside her. He wrapped his arms her. She buried her head in his shoulder and began to sob. He felt her grab onto his t-shirt like it was a lifeline. He wrapped his arms around her a little more tighter, but not enough to hurt her. "It's going to be okay. Don't worry, I got you. I'm here. I know we just met, but I got you." He whispered into her ear. She still cried.
20 minutes later
Joe was still hugging her. Her sobs had subsided to a whimper. Now, she was trying to calm herself down. He rubbed her back gently. She lifted her head up to met the most beautiful chocolate brown eyes, she ever saw. He smiled at her, she felt her insides melt. She smiled back at him. He let her go as she let go of his shirt. He reached over and tucked a strand of hair that had fallen in her face. "I.....I'm so sorry to have cried all over you like that. I just can't believe that I did that. I....I'm usually stronger than that around people." She said, as she reached over the table to get some napkins. She wiped her tears.
Joe just shrugged. "That it is okay. Don't even worry about it. You just looked like you need a good cry. Do you feel better now?" He asked, as he was about to move to the other side of the table. But she reached out and stopped him. She shook her head at him. He smiled and stay beside her. "I do feel so much more better. I'm sorry again. I don't think I have ever really cried like that. I'm always with someone. Well, my room mate mostly. So it's not like I can cry alone. I guess, I just felt like I..I don't know.."
