As I drove down the road I couldn't wait to get home. Dad was waiting for me and my whole life was in his hands this very moment, literally. He had called me earlier and told me a letter had came in from a University. I had no idea what it was about but he sounded pretty serious on the phone. When I pulled into the driveway I raced up the steps to find my father sitting down at the kitchen table.

"Dad where's the letter?", I asked him.

"Right here.", He gave it to me and I was so excited, that I was shaking trying to open the letter. "Congratulations Diana you have been chosen a scholarship to Regent's University London for publishing and writing." That's all I read and I could not believe what I was seeing. I was shocked and stood in total silence.

"What? What does it say?" My dad said nearly screaming at me.

"I've gotten chosen a scholarship for writing in London!"

"Oh my goodness that's great, see I told you you would get it!"

"I have to call mom!" My mom lived out of town. My parents are divorced so growing up, it was kind of hard for me. Watching other families go places together while it was either my dad and I or my mom and I. I had chosen to stay with my dad because I didn't want to change schools. I don't know something about starting over just scares me a little.

"Now I just need to call the other University you were going to go to and get your tuition back." As I dialed my moms number it rang about 5 times before she picked up the phone.

"Hi sweetie!", she said.

"Mom! I got a scholarship to Regent's University London for publishing and writing!", I literally shouted through the phone.

"Oh that's great! Listen I can't talk right now I have to go to a meeting i'll talk later bye!", and before I could say anything she hung up.

"What did she say?", my dad asked with a confused look on his face.

"She said great and that she has to go to a meeting she'll talk later.", I said.

"Unbelievable. Her daughter is going to University for a scholarship for goodness sake the least she could do is-"

"Dad its ok.", I said cutting him off. I didn't feel like hearing my parents argue over anything right now. I walked upstairs and layed down on my bed trying to take in what just happened the last five minutes. I can't believe I actually got a scholarship! I can't wait to tell Megan and Ashley, but when I think about it my whole life's in California. I'm only 17. I'm not ready to live by myself let alone in another country. If I go i'll leave my whole life here, my family and my friends. I hate this. Everytime something great happens there's always a consequence or risk. I opened my closet to get my surf board. Yeah big shocker right, you wouldn't really think a girl who wants to write for a living also loves to surf. Odd pairing really but I live in a beach house across from the beach with no neighbors so it was either learn how to surf or be bored to death. Surfing helps me clear my mind. Whenever I have a problem I just grab my board and hit the waves. I didn't feel like wearing my whole wet suit so I just wore my rash guard shirt and bikini bottom. When I walked out the back door I walked across the street and something stopped me in my tracks. I saw several men with cameras. My dad owns about a quarter of this beach which is technically our front yard. I wonder what they're doing? I know it isn't really a thriller but rarely does anyone come on this beach, except for me. Being me, I didn't want to cause any trouble so I headed back to my house.

"Hey! You, your not supposed to be here."
