Never did I think I was going to die like this. Sitting in the closet of an abandoned laboratory, waiting to feel death's cold embrace. I should probably explain how all of this is happening.
My name is Jason and I was a guy who loved to explore abandoned buildings and other such areas. I can't explain why I loved it so much. Maybe it was the thrill of exploring areas once teeming with life that were now quieter than a cemetery. Maybe it was the chance I had to find something from a era long past. I can't quite put my finger on it.
Whatever it was, I loved the rush that I got from it.
Now, I had recently heard rumors flying around the public that someone had been found with documents linked to a secret, government-sponsored project that went on in the late '90s. Apparently, the lab in which it was created was, coincidentally, in the abandoned Good Faith Hospital building that was an hour away from my house.
The opportunity to find something mysterious and possibly disturbing about our government was, of course, intoxicating to my sense of adventure and exploration. This was my chance to find something that would blow the lid off of other exposed government secrets like MK Ultra. I knew that I was going to have to explore the area sooner or later.
And so, one week later, equipped with nothing more than my phone, two snack bars and a bottle of water, I hopped in my car and drove to the hospital.
As soon as I got there I knew that I was going to be in for some chills. I love exploring abandoned areas, but for some reason, I was still a major wuss. If I heard that the area that I wanted to explore was haunted, even if the claims were false, I still stayed the heck away from it. I was weird like that. Luckily, I guess, I didn't hear any claims of paranormal activity here.
When I had arrived, I noticed something odd. The outside of the building was rather clean looking for being a forgotten area. My suspicion immediately began to rise, but had soon died down when I stepped inside of the hospital. Everything was as I expected from an abandoned hospital. Dirty walls, ceiling, and floor, a bit of foliage growing and rooms with rusted operating tables. As well as that, there were old wheelchairs and other objects scattered and slowly rotting away.
It took me near half an hour to clear out the entire building, but when I had finished, I was somewhat disappointed. I couldn't find anything about the lab and I had scrubbed just about every inch of the place and didn't find a single hint to the hidden area's whereabouts. was about to leave when I stepped on a molding, brownish piece of paper. It seemed to be a map of the hospital. I was going to drop it, but my eyes fixated on an spot called "Extra Space".
I had followed to where the hidden room was and found that it was somewhere behind the walls of the first operating room I went into. I felt my way across the walls of the room when I accidentally placed my hand on a space where the wall was uneven. I pushed on the spot and it slid into place. I looked over to the wall on my left to see that a portion of it had slid upwards, revealing an elevator that looked almost untouched by the building's decay.
I was ecstatic, almost like a kid in a candy store. This could lead to me blowing something wide open and getting mass public attention for it. I also considered that this could possibly land me on some kind of watch list, but those thoughts were mostly ignored. I soon stepped inside the elevator and saw that there was only one button labeled "Hidden Laboratory".
"Bingo," I had thought.
I quickly hit the button and the doors soon closed and I felt that I was beginning to descend underground. Soon, the elevator slowed to a halt. I could hardly contain my excitement when the doors had finally opened. However, there was only darkness in front of me. Nothing more than just a thick shroud of black. I quickly pulled out my phone and turned on it's flashlight, only to be met with an extravagant sight.
