(A/N Thank you so much, anyone who may be here :)  )

Alexa lay sprawled across the couch, wanting to get outside and do something but it was chilly, even inside. The only source of heat her house had was the fireplace, sitting across from her, but they were not able to light it with no fuel.

Her mom, useless as always, was sleeping, while Alexa had to deal with her irritating sister. After letting out a frustrated sigh she shuddered and drew her hoodie tighter. The light from the full moon drifting from the window lit up her sister. Being five years old, the only reason for her existence seemed to be crying, whining and sleeping. And irritating Alexa to the point where she wanted to strangle her, and the only thing that refrained her from this was that she didn't want to be responsible for her mom having an emotional breakdown seeing as she had seen the full extent of this when her father had died.

"Why?" Alexa groaned, "Why did it have to be Nysaa that you chose to stay with us?"

Alexa's mum made Alexa do all her work, and forbid her to leave the house at any time. She claimed it was because Nyssa was underage and that she needed supervision, as if she cared. Alexa knew this was not the reason why she was forbidden.

"She must hate me," Alexa decided, "That's why I can't leave the house."

Although she was forbidden, it didn't stop Alexa from regularly visiting the real world, away from what anyone but Alexa would call a family.

Nyssa stayed because according to Marianna, her mom, Alexa would need company, which she did, as her mom spent all of her drinking and eating else where, and although Alexa always said she'd rather no company than Nyssa's company, in reality she knew it gave her mind something to think about, not that she would ever admit it.

"Alexa-a-a-a,"

Her sister flopped onto the couch where Alexa's feet lay and didn't even seem at all guilty when her sister grunted from the weight. Nyssa was heavy for a five-year-old.

"I'm co-o-old!"

"So? What do you want me about it?" Alexa snapped, not bothering to hide her annoyance.

"You can do something! You're big! You're sixteen!"

The girl hadn't grasped that older people had faults too. You didn't automatically become a perfect human when you turned a certain age. Still, this was better than when she was three and she seemed to believe the world revolved around her and that she was superior to everyone and everything.

Rolling her eyes, Alexa had half a mind to light her on fire, if she could of course, because at least it would shut her up. And would prevent Alexa from catching hypothermia, or even simply a common cold.

A warm tingle ran from the tips of her toes to the very roots of her straight, dark brown hair and a spark erupted in her hand. As though she had done this many times before, she began to direct it towards her sister, following her previous instincts, but her heart said different, and she moved its course towards the fireplace. Alexa realised this was far better a thing than if she lit her sister on fire. She had let her thoughts lose control. At least she knew part of her had respect and love for those she cared about (or at least didn't want to kill numerous times).

Apart from added to that her exhaustion and desperation to go outside, even though she knew the streets would be littered with creeps and drunks, she wasn't bothered by it. It had felt so natural. Staring at Alexa, wide-eyed, mouth agape, Nyssa didn't seem to agree.
