Memory
Luanne Dunwall stared at her vibrant reflection in the full standing mirror in front of her. Her light green eyes dazzled in the natural light as her skin glowed with a goddess like completion. She eyed herself up and down, admiring deeply her pure white wedding dress that elegantly melted into the floor.
"Lulu" her mother said walking over to her daughter "I want you to have this" she smiled warmly, doing her best not to cry until after the vows "it was my wedding vale"
Luanne looked down at the delicate white fabric then up at her mother.
"I think it's lucky you know, I mean, your father and I have been married for quite some time" she giggled.
Though Luanne's expression displayed fear, she smiled.
Mrs. Dunwall kissed her daughters forehead "my little Lulu's all grown up" she said, taking the vale from Luanne and placing it in her hair which was wrapped in a bun.
Luanne looked back to the tall standing mirror. Her breathing increased as her heartbeat broke through her rib cage and suddenly the world stood still. The reflection of herself scared her even more than the monster who hid under her bed as a child.
Hesitantly she stepped off the wooden box she had been standing on while her brides maids fixed her gown to perfection "I have to talk to Ashton" she said frantically, pulling the bottom of her dress up and rushing out the door of her dressing room as her mother called behind her.
She ran down the hall of the recreational building following the smell of cigar smoke to a door at the end of the hallway. Luanne walked up to the wooden door and stared at it in the face.
There were muffled voices followed by laughter coming from behind the closed door. She reached out for the door knob but quickly pulled her hand away. What was she doing? This wasn't how a bride should be acting! A bride should be poised and filled with grace. But all of these thoughts were dismissed from her mind as she extended her arm and knocked.
The voices on the other end stopped as footsteps approached the door.
Luanne swallowed her fear away as Ashton's face greeted her.
"Hey..y-you look beautiful" Ashton said surprised, but delighted, to see her "what are you doing here Lu?"
Luanne grabbed Ashton's wrist and pulled him into the hallway "We can't get married" she said.
"Woah, woah, what are you talking about?" Ashton asked, rubbing her shoulders with his hands, making her grip on his arm loosen.
"I'm scared Irwin" she admitted.
"I'm scared too Lu" he told her in the sympathetic voice he always used "but then I remind myself that I love you and that I want to continue to love you for the rest of my life" Ashton smiled.
"We're so young though, how do we know this is right?"
Ashton tightened his eyebrows in confusion "do you really not want to do this?" He asked, taking his hands away from her waist.
"Irwin" Luanne grabbed his hands and put them back in their spot "I can say that right now I love you" she moved her face closer to his "but what if that changes and I break your heart?"
"That won't happen–"
"But what if it does!" She pulled him closer by his shirt "I don't want that chance"
